day two

Nick looks out the car window, watching the trees pass, feeling sick of looking at trees and Sam's terribly fast driving

"hey, is it okay if we stop at this motel for the night?" Gina asks, turned in her seat to look at nick

"yeah" he says

Sam pulls the car into a parking lot, Nick grimaces at the sight of the motel, not the greatest looking one he's seen, given that all motels he has seen have looked like shit but whatever

As soon as Sam parks the car, Nick gets out of the backseat in a rush, he runs to the gate of a small playground in the center of the motel parking lot

"Nick, we'll be in room 17" Gina says from the motels office, Nick turns and nods his head, Gina giving him a thumbs up

Nick continues to stare at the playground, he thinks back to when he was a kid, he thinks of Lucas, how can two innocent kids turn into their worse nightmare? How can they lose track of what they needed?

How can somebody lose someone who was never suppose to leave their side?
