Training to become a hero? Difficult. Training to become a hero with the additional challenge of ADHD? Almost impossible.
Denki should know, he was going through it right now. And it was hell.
Sitting through the lessons without getting distracted by the smallest things was his current predicament. It was English currently, and he just couldn't focus on whatever the teacher was droning on about. There were so many more interesting things to devote his focus to, like the slight scuffing of someone's shoe as they swung their leg back and forth, or the sound of teeth gnawing on the end of a pencil. He could focus on the way the teacher's lips moved, but not on the words he produced, they just seemed to go in one ear and out the other. It made him want to scream in frustration.
He put his head down, biting at his arm to release his frustration, nothing hard enough to hurt, just to help him get some pent up feelings out, better than making an unnecessary show of it under the prying eyes of all of his classmates right?
He finally raised his head again when he heard a chorus of scraping chairs as people pushed themselves to their feet, gathering up their things and heading for lunch. He grinned and wiped his arm before tugging down his sleeve, grabbing his bag and rushing over to his friends, or the Bakusquad as they were more commonly known as.
"You should really stop sleeping through lessons, Denks." Mina chuckled, obviously having seen him with his head down. Ah, right.
"It's just so hard to concentrate." He laughed in an almost nervous manner, rubbing at the back of his neck. Mina just hummed and turned to Sero as they headed out of the classroom, exchanging a few excited words with him, Denki wasn't really paying attention in all honesty.
He had neglected to tell his friends of his ADHD, it just wasn't something he felt the need to throw around, he also didn't want it to seem like he was just using it as an excuse for his slipping grades. He didn't see why they would need to know in all honesty. The teachers knew of course, it was down in the student files so there was no keeping it from them, and while some did their best, others seemed to completely forget.
He just needed to find a way to ground himself.
"Oi, Pikachu!" He snapped his head round to look at Bakugou before suddenly walking into something and falling back onto his ass, wincing and looking up at the wall he had walked into with a pout before looking over at his friends and giving a laugh, pushing himself to his feet. "Tch, idiot." Bakugou rolled his eyes and just started to walk away while Kirishima checked up on Denki who was quick to brush it off and say he was fine.
The day seemed to drag by painfully slow and no matter how much Denki had tried to concentrate, it just seemed futile.
"Denki Kaminari, may I talk to you for a minute after class?" Aizawa spoke up just as Denki was wandering over to his friends to head back to the dorms with them. He glanced back at him and sighed and nodded, just telling his friends to go on without him as he returned to his desk.
When all the students had filtered out and the door finally closed, a silence fell over the classroom, Aizawa not seeming to mind as he moved to sit against his desk, looking up at Denki who shifted uncomfortably under his dull gaze.
"I thought you should know that you're failing most of your lessons." He spoke bluntly, Denki looking away with a sigh. He was aware. "I understand that classrooms aren't the easiest for you to concentrate in, but I recommend that you find something that works for you, such as a tutor. Perhaps one of your classmates will be willing." Denki really doubted any of his friends would be able to stand him long enough for him to actually learn anything. "He may be a hothead and a little hard to handle, but Katsuki Bakugou is the top of most of his classes, perhaps asking him to tutor you would help." Mr Aizawa suggested, just ignoring the disbelief on Denki's face.
Bakugou would kill him for even asking.
"I'll think about it, sir, thank you." Denki sighed, grabbing his bag and getting to his feet, still thinking over what his teacher had suggested as he left the classroom, running a hand through his bright blonde hair. He knew he needed to figure out some way to improve his grades, but was Katsuki Bakugou really the best choice?
He pushed those thoughts aside for the time being and just focused on getting back to the dorms, his stomach demanding some food.
Anxiety gripped him as he walked up to the explosive boy's door, his stomach churning, threatening to push up what little he had eaten for dinner.
Denki, while he wasn't fearless, was rarely genuinely scared of Bakugou. Sure he yelled a lot and had threatened to kill him more times then he could count, but Denki knew that he would never cause him any real harm.
But right now, he was risking letting the whole class know that he was failing his classes, because Bakugou usually reacted in a not so discreet manner. He was also prepared to be cursed out, told to fuck off and probably be called an idiot repeatedly, but he had to try. He could go to one of his other friends, sure, but if Mr Aizawa suggested Katsuki, then surely he felt he would bring his grades up with the best results. Afterall, he wouldn't recommend the hot head if he didn't truly believe he was capable.
Pushing down his doubt he raised his fist to knock, a new wave of determination washing over him.
It took a moment, but soon enough the door was opening to reveal a tired looking Bakugou who was sporting a mess of bed hair and a loose tank top and shorts. Had he been asleep? So early?
"What do you want, Dunce face?" Denki was snapped out of his thoughts by a low growl of annoyance from the tired blonde, making him shake his head of any wandering thoughts and clear his throat, praying to the gods that it didn't fail him.
"Can you tutor me?"
