My name is Marina Stewart but everyone just calls me Stewart; Stewart was my dads' name actually. He passed away 2 years ago but he was the one who originally got me into Volleyball (he used to play in high school). He's the only reason I'm any good. I would wake up early every morning to train with him and he would be coaching me from the sidelines at all my games. I really miss him sometimes. Don't get me wrong though, my mom is doing a brilliant job trying to do everything he did. You see my dad was way older than my mom (20 years to be precise) so she was always aware there would be a time that she'd have to raise my brothers and I without him. She's trying really hard, she's yet to miss any of my games! That's a really big deal since we all play demanding sports. My older brother: Kevin is in College on a basketball scholarship (he got all the height genes) and my younger brother: Isaac, who's still a junior, plays football. My moms a yoga instructor as well so I guess you could say we are somewhat of a sporty family.

I've always been really close with my mum since we are the only girls in the house. Today is her birthday and we are cooking her a really nice dinner but this training session is dragging. Coach is always so hard on me but I can't blame him. I'm the captain: I have to be the best!

"Stewart!" The coach yells at me as I lug my body up the court, "PICK IT UP!"

"Yes, Coach!" I shout, forcing myself to run faster.

After a good 40 minutes of running, we are finally allowed to go home.

I throw my body on the bench, "I don't know why he makes us run this much."

Everyone nods and sighs in agreement.

"If you're not up for it then quit the team, Stewart!" Diamond shouts from across the changing room.

Diamond Patrick: The reincarnation of Satan himself; I Hate Haaaate HATE Diamond Patrick. She honestly thinks that this is bad girls club and it makes me feel sick. I've never met someone so Ghetto in my whole entire life. Sis this is Denver, not Compton! She thinks she should've been made captain instead of me but she's such a raging bitch, No one wants her in charge. I won't lie though, she's very good at volleyball, she's one of our top players, so I can't be too rude to her or she'll quit and our team will suffer.

"Oh give it a rest!" Selena says, rolling her eyes aggressively.

Jaz backs her up, "You always have something to say Diamond, save this energy for the court."

Jaz and Selena are my best friends; We've been playing volleyball together since middle school. Selena is the star player of the team. She's basically built for Volleyball, she so tall and has the best stamina ever. She's on the track team as well. Jaz is good too but she's one of the bottom ones on the team. No shade to her or anything but she's just not as fit as the rest of us. I keep telling her if she would just get her fitness up, she could be so much better!! But she claims she doesn't have the time. It's cause she's always with her boyfriend Ryan. It's not that I don't like Ryan, cause he's very lovely, it's just that he distracts her from volleyball and I want my team to be focused at all time. I'm not really into boys like that so I don't get the fuss but it's not my place to judge.

"Guys it's fine, just leave her be," I tell them, zipping up my bag.

"You seriously need to stand up to her," Selena says.

"You know I can't Selena, I have to keep things professional."

"Okay fine," She says, "Tell your mom I said Happy Birthday."

"Yeah, I will, thanks!"

"Tell her I said Happy birthday too!" Jaz exclaims.

"Yeah yeah," I say and leave with my bag around my shoulders.
