The last box clicked shut with a soft thud.

I stood in the middle of my room at the Mikaelson mansion, letting my eyes wander over the walls that had been my home for the last four years. It felt strange knowing that by tomorrow morning I'd be leaving.

Four years.

Four years ago today, I had run away from Beacon Hills. Four years ago today, Kali found me... and bit me.

That single bite had changed everything.

Not that I was complaining.

Being a werewolf definitely had its perks. I healed ridiculously fast, my hearing and sense of smell were almost supernatural, I never got sick anymore, and shifting had become as natural as breathing.

Well... eventually.

The first full moon had been terrifying.

I hadn't known what was happening to me. Every bone in my body had felt like it was breaking. I thought I was dying.

Then Klaus Mikaelson found me.

Instead of killing me like I expected, he stayed.

He helped me through my very first shift, talked me through the pain, and waited until the next morning for me to wake up.

I had fully expected him to rip my heart out.

Instead, we sat beneath a tree for hours talking.

I told him my story—about Beacon Hills, my family, and how terrified I was.

He told me his.

That conversation changed both of our lives.

Since that day we'd become inseparable.

When he found out I had nowhere to go, he opened the doors of the Mikaelson mansion without hesitation.

Rebekah had been thrilled to finally have another girl in the house.

Kol immediately decided we were partners in crime.

The two of us spent most of our time driving Elijah and Finn absolutely insane.

Well... mostly Finn.

Elijah had become the older brother I'd never had. He was patient, protective, and always willing to give advice whenever life became too overwhelming.

Finn surprised me the most.

People thought he was cold, but underneath all those walls was someone incredibly kind. He taught me ancient languages, spent hours teaching me how to play the piano, and quietly listened whenever I needed someone to vent to.

His siblings rarely listened to him.

I always did.

"Luv."

Klaus' voice pulled me from my thoughts.

"Hm?"

"I asked if you were excited to go home."

A smile spread across my face.

"Yeah." I nodded. "I can't wait to see my mom and my little brother."

He leaned against the doorway with his arms crossed.

"What were you thinking about?"

I laughed softly.

"Honestly? Kol... and Finn."

A sad smile crossed Klaus' face.

"I miss them too."

Silence settled between us.
