The Sandlot Love Story

moving in

This story takes place in 2021 but with no Corona.

I was here finally here after almost a whole day we were here. I'm from Texas but we had to move to California for my grandma. After my grandpa passed she has been depressed so are moving in with her. My mom passed away when I was just a baby so I don't really remember her but my dad said I look alot like her. I mean yeah I have her brown hair, hazel eyes, tan skin i have seen pictures of her but it hurts to think about. I also played softball in Texas that is the thing I miss the most softball but I'm sure I can find a place to play in California.

"Were here!" My dad exclaimed

I jumped out of the car and ran to the front door knocking on it excitedly. As soon as the door opened and I saw my grandma I hugged her tight but not to tight.

"I missed you so much" I said with a happy tear rolling down my cheek.

"Mija I misses you so much" my grandma said she kissed my forehead.

My moms side of the family is Mexican and my dad's side is America but I have always gotten along with the Mexican side of my family more then my dad's. probably because I have relatives in every state but I don't mind.

"Camilla go help your dad" she said waving me away to go help my dad.

When we got all the bags off of the car there was one bag left and it was my softball bag I went to go get it when I saw a tall handsome boy with black hair and olive skin come out from the house across the street. He saw me and waved. a little boy with red hair and freckles around his face came up to him with a glove.

"Come on benny man we have to get to the feild!" The little red headed boy yelled

"I'm coming im coming" the tall boy said

I walked back inside and my grandma was cooking dinner she is the best cook ever. I haven't seen my grandma in over 2 years. I ate dinner and went upstairs toke a quick shower and laid down in bed. I was almost asleep when I heard some boys yell "CAMP OUT" from outside so I just closed my window and fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up and put on some nike shorts and a softball shirt. I walked downstairs and smelt my grandma's amazing cooking. I ran downstairs she was making my favorite  bacon and eggs.

"Thanks grandma" I ate it and I go outside to catch the ball. While I was throwing the ball up in the air my grandma came out and asked if I wanted to go to Vincent drug store of course I said yes. I went inside grabbed my phone and ran outside. When we got to the store we got some food for lunch and dinner tonight. When we were walking out we saw that same tall boy from across the street my grandma waved at him and continued walking.

"Who's that" I asked while I was helping her put the groceries in the car.

"That is Benjamin Franklin rodriguez but we call him benny he lives in the house in front of us. Why you ask?"

"Just wondering" I said thinking of him his hair is as perfect as can be but no I can't have feelings for him I don't even know him.

A little later i was in my kitchen making myself lunch and I heard a knock at the door so I opened it and there stood benny.

"Hey I was wondering if you wanted to go play ball with me and my friends" he said holding a glove in his hand.

"Sure why not let me just go ask my dad first" I ran inside and over to my dad

"Hey dad can I go play ball with the boy from across the street?" I said nervously

"Sure why not" he said

"OK thank you dad" I hugged him grabbed my glove, my phone and ran outside to benny.

"He said yes" I said excitedly

"OK come on let's go the boys are waiting"

"How many boys are there" i said tilting my head a little to look at him.

"You'll see" he said "just know that me and Bertram are the only ones your age"

We kept walking till we got to Vincent drug store. Me and benny went in and got some drinks and gum for the boys.

When we were walking to the sandlot I felt Benny's hand brush up against mine.

"Were here!" Ham yelled

"Wow..." I said in amaze I love it. It looked so cool old but cool.
