chapter three | london fog lattes

Start from the beginning

The boy nods slowly, taking a genuine interest in my explanation. "I had no idea it was so complex... I always thought it was... coffee." He smiles shyly and causes his cheeks to round giving him a babyface. "That one sounds great. I'll get three of them."

"Alrighty," I type in the order onto the register screen and take his card when he pays. I notice the name as I put it into the card reader.

Jeon Jungkook.

The jingle bells above the front door ring and chime as the door opened. Many of the people who were admiring the artwork as they drank their coffee are leaving now. I suspect some of them are on the tour of the downtown in honor of small business week. Just then, two boys race past the painting party group and run up to Jungkook with matching, mischievous grins.

The one with thick, dark hair pounces onto Jungkook and throws his long arms around Jungkook's surprisingly broad shoulders. The boy grins widely showing both rows of his teeth and nuzzles his head next to Jungkook, "Jungkookie...." he coos in a shockingly deep voice, unable to contain his laughter.

Jungkook's body stiffened in surprise before relaxing. He starts laughing at his friend who clings onto his shoulder. He lightly pats the boy's hands, "Oh, hey hyung," he says casually.

"Aww, how could you leave us?" the second boy whines playfully, putting out his full bottom lip. Graceful as a cat, he runs up to Jungkook and glues himself to Jungkook's side with teasing intentions in his eyes, "Hey, didn't we teach you to respect your elders?" he scolds between his giggles.

Jungkook's lips pull into a smug smirk as he looks down at the second boy but says nothing.

"What are you ordering?" the first boy asks curiously, pulling himself off of Jungkook. He scans up at the menu curiously, "Did you ask for a recommendation?"

The card finally goes through with its payment so I hand him back his card and the receipt. "Three London Fog Lattes, coming up," I announce with a slight bob of my head. Then I start working on the three drinks, though I do keep an eye on the three boys, just out of curiosity...

"Oo that sounds great," the second boy gushes, adjusting his arm to sling over Jungkook's shoulders. He stands up on his toes to match his height, "What's in it?"

"She said it's Earl Gray tea with steamed milk," Jungkook explains, "and there's lavender. There's no coffee in it so Taehyung will like it. I hope." He gestures to the first boy with dark, curly hair.

"Jimin-ah, look," Taehyung's eyes light up with interest when he sees the artwork section, "this is so pretty... come look." He gestures for Jimin to follow him over and Jimin obliges with a slight skip in his step.

I notice Jimin has the body of a modern dancer; with his long legs and small torso. His dark blond hair is styled back like a Disney Prince with double-looped earrings in his ears. He is handsome, as are the other boys. It's crazy to think such attractiveness can exist in a world such as mine. Their beauty is not for the world of the mundane.

Where Jimin is feathery and light, Taehyung's appearance is intense, dark with a voice like velvet. There is a childlike wonder on Taehyung's face, but the stunning handsome appearance of his sculpted facial structure offsets it and creates a paradoxical duality.

Jungkook's jawline from my point of view is pronounced and though he has some babyface features, there is no doubt he is a man. His eyes have a slight crease and are round-shaped giving him a baby doe appearance. His black hair is tied back in a short ponytail and the moment I noticed it, I felt my heart pound a little harder.

I quickly avert my eyes and focus solely on making these three angels their drinks.

Maybe I shouldn't pay so much attention. I have a job to do. I can't spend all day checking them out...
