I closed my locker and brushed my blonde hair out of my eyes. I sighed as I watched Gerard strut down the hallway, his girlfriend Lindsey by his side. He stopped in front of me, and gave me a huge grin.

"Amy! Guess what? I'm now captain of the football team!" He exclaimed. I smiled weakly. "First of all, it's Mikey, second of all, that's great," I grumbled. I put my head down and walked out to the parking lot. Today was the day I was coming out to my parents. Gerard knew I didn't want to be a girl, but he didn't respect my pronouns, and he still called me by my dead name. He didn't get it.

I walked through the front door of my home and went straight to my room. I opened my sock drawer and took out my Trans Pride Flag. I walked into the bathroom and cut my hair. I used gel and put it back. I took my hair tie, and I used that to attach the flag around my neck.

I walked downstairs and into the kitchen where my entire family was. My mother dropped her plate and fell to the floor sobbing, my father's face turned red and he stormed out the door, and Gerard hung his head in shame. I teared up and ran upstairs. I packed a bunch of clothes into my spare backpack and the grabbed a duffle bag and shoved a pillow and small blanket in it. I put some of my books in there as well. I threw on a hoodie and grabbed my phone and headphones. I grabbed my school bag, my backpack, and my ruffled bag. I walked out the door and walked to the other side of town to my grandma Helena's house.

When I knocked on the door, she opened it, and hugged me. She brought me inside and took my stuff to the spare bedroom while I helped and explained everything. She nodded, and the first thing she said was, "Well, what do you want me to call you, and would you prefer male pronouns?" I smiled, teared up, and replied with, "Mikey, and yes, I would love male pronouns." Helena nodded again and brought me to the dining room where she had just set out food to eat.

Halfway through dinner my mom called grandma, and she put in on speaker so I could hear the conversation. "Mom, is Amy with you? She ran out of the house and we haven't been able to find her!" My mother exclaimed. Helena frowned and said, "Yes, Mikey is here. He's fine, and he's moving in with me now." I smiled and watched as Helena hung up while my mom yelled at her.

I went to my room after dinner and put all my stuff away. I laid down on my bed and stared at the ceiling for a while. Helena was signing me up for school online. Our town has two different school because of how big it is. I had been going to South Birch High, but Helena was signing me up for North Birch High. Helena walked into my room and informed me that I would be starting school on Monday seeing as it was now the weekend.

I woke up and got dressed for school. I put on baggy jeans, a Green Day shirt, and tied an oversized hoodie around my waist. I slipped on some old shoes that Helena found in the attic, and threw on my backpack. Helena drove me to school and I happily waved goodbye as I walked up to the gates. I went to the office to collect my schedule, and on the way to finding my locker, I ran into someone. We both fell to the floor and dropped out things. I scrambled to collect my thing while profusely apologizing. I looked up to see a cute girl (boy?) with short black hair and beautiful hazel eyes. I smiled and they smiled back.

"Hey, I'm Mikey," I said.

"Frank."
