Chapter 7: The Sirens

Noa was still at the front of the ship, she hasn't talked to any of the herd, didn't eat, she really was upset about Shira's sacrifice, while Sid was starting to regain his sense of movement and speech, Diego was pacing back and forth the whole time

"Like... hey, I'm not dead!" Sid suddenly yelled as he mumbled things he hasn't been able to say

"I'll push him overboard. You guys say it was an accident" Granny suggested

"I'm in. How about you, Diego? Diego? Hey, relax, buddy" Manny said as Diego stopped pacing and looked at the mammoth

"Captain Crazy and his floating petting zoo are history. Come one, we're finally heading home!" Manny cheered in an attempt to cheer the saber up

"I don't know what's wrong with me. I can't eat, can't sleep. Maybe I'm coming down with something" Diego mused as he continued his pace while Manny chuckled

"Oh, I know what you've got. The "L" word" Manny smirked as Sid came over

"Yeah, leprosy" Sid commented

"No, Sid, no, it's four letters. Starts with "L," ends with "E"" Manny explained to the sloth

"Aha! Lice!" Sid stated

"No, Diego, my friend, is in love" Manny smirked

"Oh, yeah. Love" Sid mocked

"You mean with the pirate? No" Diego denied as the two snickered

"Oh, Shira's gotten under your skin. Come on. Admit it" Sid joked as Manny spoke up

"A rugged saber like you" Manny smirked

"A more rugged saber like her" Sid laughed

"No, no, no. You guys are dead wrong" Diego denied as he walked past them to the front of the ship where Noa was as Manny and Sid bursted out in laughter and high-fived each other

"Denial is the clincher! You're in love, pussycat" Manny laughed as Sid started singing

"Diego and Shira..." Sid started as Manny continued

"Sitting in a tree" they both sang in chorus

"K-I-S-S-I-N-G" Sid and Manny sang in chorus

"Real mature, guys. Real mature" Diego muttered as he sat next to Noa who looked down at the waves

When she suddenly heard a sound like someone was calling for her

She looked closer to the cliffs that had a pinkish-purple fog around it and saw 2 silhouettes of two sabers

"Noa" the voices echoed again, as the fog cleared she could see her adoptive-parents

Leah and Victor

"Mom?... D-Dad?" Noa gasped happily

"We're here, sweetie" Leah called as Victor added

"Come here, honey, we really missed you"

"Mom, your sister, she-" Noa started

"I know, sweetie, but remember what i taught you, we'll always leave the past behind and the ones who were never in our lives" Leah said as Noa widened her eyes in shock, she knew her mom would never say that about her family

"MY mom would never talk about family like that, especially about her sister!" Noa snapped as the two sabers turned into sirens, they hissed at her as she fell back from the edge, she looked around as she saw her surroundings, she looked down and the ship headed to the rocks as the others were still in trance at the front

"Sid, no!" Manny shouted as he grabbed the steering stick and yanked it to the left as the ship turned instantly, causing the herd to all slide to the other side as Noa bumped into an ice wall

As they were drifting away, the ship stabled itself and continued their way home

Noa looked at Diego who pushed Sid off him, she returned to the front of the ship and sat there like before

Later when Sid and Granny were asleep, Diego walked up to Noa and sat down next to her, they were silent for a moment when Diego broke the silence

"So, uh, Noa, you okay? You've been quiet the whole day, didn't eat. Is something bothering you?" Diego asked as Noa looked at him with sadness and disappointment in her eyes

"It's Shira... I've discovered that she's, well... my aunt" Noa replied as Diego widened his eyes as he got shocked by hearing that

"What?!" Diego gasped

"Yeah, she and my mom are sisters who were separated 19 years ago, I wanted her to come with us too. So they could reunite, but I guess that'll never be possible" Noa sadly sighed as Diego wrapped an arm around her

"I'm so sorry, kid, but I'm sure Shira's okay, I hope" Diego muttered as he felt bad for her and also hoped Shira would be ok

"Diego. You know Gutt, he doesn't show mercy, he'll destroy everything and everyone who gets in his way... today Aunt Shira got in his way" Noa sighed as she added

"And it already feels like I will lose a family member soon... which is true" Noa continued as Diego heard the quiver in her voice and pulled her into a hug

"Shh, it'll be ok, he might've left her alive or something" Diego soothed as he patted her back yet he also didn't know if Shira was fine, but he said it to cheer Noa up

"Come on, even you don't know" Noa said as she wiped her eyes and looked at the orange saber

"I do, it's just... I wished I didn't left her there" Diego sighed as he looked down at the waves as he wanted to change the subject

"You didn't left her, she stayed behind to save us, she did that for us" Noa soothed as she has calmed down

"I guess you're right, kid" Diego admitted

"You know, I saw some spark between you and Aunt Shira, it was love at first sight, wasn't it" Noa smiled as she looked at Diego

"Well, uh, uh... maybe a little" Diego blushed as Noa giggled

"Come on, you find her appealing- no attractive" Noa smirked as Diego planned to deny it, but he won't, because yeah, she was just a kid

"Ok, ok. She's attractive" Diego chuckled as Noa was silent for a moment as Diego looked at her

"Noa?" Diego asked

"So, if you and Aunt Shira are going to be a couple... I guess that'll make you... my uncle, right?" Noa asked as Diego looked with happiness in his eyes as he chuckled

"Guess that'll make you my niece, huh? Come here" Diego deviously chuckled as he head-locked her while he ruffed her hair

"Hey, let go" Noa laughed as she pinned him down, only to get tackled down by him

"Give up?" Diego smirked

"Are you kidding?" Noa smirked as she tackled him down as they both laughed

"Now, kid, get some sleep. We have a big day tomorrow" Diego said as Noa lays down on her belly

"Night, Diego" Noa muttered as she quickly fell asleep as Diego lays down next to her

"Night, Noa" Diego whispered as he fell asleep
