Our laughter stopped. My smiled faltered. Quinn and my eyes met instantaneously. How lucky I was to be sitting here with The Quinn, or as the Society nick-named him as "Insane It." I'd have to admit, right below Death on my idols list, Quinn is second. We weren't close friends or anything, but Quinn was an easy person to talk to, and when I called it to schedule a meeting, it gave me this story. It's one of the most precious things I've ever been given. The reason why it's so valuable is because nobody knows anything about Quinn. They know it's first name, and its class. No one knows it's family, it's gender, or any of it's backstory. So being given such a valuable piece of information is an honor.

"Of course," Quinn said with a grin, getting comfortable in it's chair as if he were a grandfather about to tell a long story. "Venus. Tell him please."

I nodded. "Quinn had a rampage after you suddenly disappeared from the Society. He killed half of the dagger-class popularity, and was suspended from the Society Academy until Mr. Shinigami returns."

Quinn giggled and clapped. "Great explanation, Venus!" I bowed in response, smiling.

Death took a moment of thought, and didn't move his gaze from Quinn. "Why did you have a rampage?"

"Because you disappeared."

"But why did you care that I disappeared?" His eyes narrowed slightly. Just as I had predicted, this will become a great memory jog for him.

"Because we were the best of buds back then." There was a hint of happiness, and a hint of sadness in Quinn's voice. "When I found out that you left, I couldn't handle it. You were my only friend," it whispered, looking down. It's pure white hair fell over it's eyes, shielding it's face. Tears dripped onto Quinn's black jeans.

Death gasped quietly to himself. I felt excited; did he remember something?!

"I.. don't remember having a friend.. H-How long ago was that?" He seemed to be pushing his brain hard, because I began to see sweat on his forehead.

"Seventeen years ago." Quinn's voice was cracked with emotion.

I looked over to Death, smiling softly. "See, Death. Proof."

Quinn quickly stood, it's head still tilted downwards and it's hair still over it's eyes. It stomped up to Death, put both hands on his shoulders, and yelled, "DON'T YOU REMEMBER ME DEATH?! I'LL KILL EVERYONE IN THIS ASYLUM IF IT HELPS YOU REMEMBER!" Tears streamed down it's face, it's face turning red in the process.

Death's eyes were wide. I didn't know if he was scared, surprised, touched, or creeped out. I just knew that his eyes were wider than I've ever seen them. Such beautiful eyes. They sparkle with such dignity and innocence, pride and excellence. Stop it, Venus. You're getting off track.

He was definitely dumbstruck. "D-did we ever meet after my disappearance?"

Quinn was still sobbing, and began hugging Death tightly like a mother who was being reunited with her missing son. It shook it's head. "No..b-but I was told that we used to live in the same asylum.." It sniffed and wiped it's eyes, now sitting in Death's lap. "But then you left here too.."

Obviously, Death wasn't sure how to react to this. "R-really..?" He looked down to it, his eyes sparkling. "I-I had a friend here..and I didn't even know it..?" He whispered to himself.

All of the color drained from my face. Was he about to cry? My eyes watered just by watching the scene of friendship. If I had a close friend like this, I'd most likely be reacting the same way Quinn was. I'd definitely be crying and acting like a baby.

Death shut his mouth, and his hair fell over his face. His face was pale, just as always, but his cheeks were pink. Quickly, the color faded. His chin tilted upwards and our eyes met. The gaze was kept steady, and I felt like we were now in our own word. I couldn't feel the seat under me.

"I don't hate you anymore," he whispered. His voice was so soft, so unlike him.

Oh, that got me. I began to bawl just like Quinn, both of us hugging Death tightly. He sighed quietly, but didn't push us away. I've never been close to another being before, I'm usually just an annoyance at the Society. But now I have two friends. Mr. Shinigami's return might be the little bit of light that this world needs.
