The Coat. Fairytail OC Story.

Chapter 1- Return Home.

Nyra's POV:

"Come on Genie! We are gonna be late for our much awaited return."

Me and Genie have been on a 5 year long job request and we are on our way back home, we have just entered Magnolia and everything is very much the same as when we left. You are wearing a long, long-sleeved, black shirt that had a low neckline, with some black leggings and knee high boots with skull buckles on them a belt and a coat that was hot pink and black and a fluffy outline, that you wore like a Cape. Not using the sleeves at all, they were just dangling there next to you and a hot pink fairytail symbol on your neck with a black outline.

"I'm coming Nyra! !! Your going too fast, wait no come back, slow down!!!!"
You stop and turn around to see a very tired looking black and hot pink exceed in your trail, she had a fairytail symbol on her back, and she wore a dark green trousers and a white blouse. Her angel wings wide and slow as she makes her way to your location. Genie, is your exceed. You guys met when you were 8 years old, when you were at your lowest.

FLASHBACK:

You were running through a forest crying, screaming, "Mum!!! Mum, where are you???" you were being chased by some members of a dark guild. Even though you had cuts and bruises and you were in pain you kept  going, not daring to look back at the horrors following you like a pack of wolves herding in a little lamb for the slaughter.
" Mum, you said you'd always protect me..." you mumbled under your uneven breath. That is when you slipped and tumbled down a muddy hill, it felt like a really big hill because you were falling for what felt like forever. Finally you stopped and sat up slowly, shaking you then stood up. Grunting at the pain in your left arm you stumbled through a little clearing where you could see a small cave. In the distance you could hear the bastards coming, so without thinking you limped to the cave and hid in there. There were cobwebs in the entrance leaving only a gap at the bottom corner, just big enough for you to crawl through. You slowly weaved your way through the gap and collected your breath as you sat down pulling your knees to your chest. Slowly you used your superhearing to listen for the dark wizards that were chasing you and heard that they were assuming you made the slip and ran away. So, they left, cursing as they went.
Slowly you straightened out and looked at yourself. You realised that the reason your arm hurts so much is because there is loads of thorns going up your left arm. Gently you started to remove the small, painful things.
"ouch... ooh ow!"
"you seem like you're in a bit of a mess there aren't you girlie!"
Instantly you tensed.
'crap, ' you thought 'they're back! '
Quietly, you turned around to see not malicious morons but instead a cute cat. But it was standing on its hind legs looking at you with curiosity and with a cute and innocent smile.
" Hey there! I am Genie, nice to meet you."
You didn't answer instead only stared at the tiny creature, who just talked to you. 'How could it talk? Its a cat!' You thought. But at the same time you weren't freaking out like normal people would, I mean you have met plenty of animals and beasts that could talk so why should a cat be any different? Plus, it wasn't normal cat colours either.
"I understand that you are afraid girlie but I can't help you if you're being stubborn." Genie shrugged with a wide and cheeky grin. Still you said nothing. Your mother always said that you were stubborn and small, yes you  were quite small for your age but it still annoyed you how people would point that out. Your size didn't matter, as long as you can fend for yourself. But you're not doing very well at that for the time being.
"sigh," Genie began again "you really aren't gonna talk to me?" no answer " OK, that is fine, as long as you let me help you take those stupid thorns out of your arm?" hesitantly, you nodded once. With that, Genie skipped over to you, still with a massive grin on her face and grabbed one of the thorns causing you to flinch. "I haven't pulled it out yet!" she giggled. "sigh" you sighed and took a deep breath before Genie pulled out the first one.
"Ow!!!" you cried
"Sorry, girlie"
"Nyra, that is my name and don't forget it because I am only saying it once." you said rather quickly before retracting yourself and looking at the floor with a slight pink dusting your cheeks from the embarrassment of your outburst.
Startled at first, Genie looked up at you.
" so you DO talk then. "
You just carried on looking at the floor. You don't like strangers, it has always been just you and your mother for as long as you can remember. You never had any friends nor did you even want to have friends, so you tend to keep to yourself a bit more that most people would. But you weren't shy, you just didn't like talking to people. So..... At this point in time.... The only one you talked to was your mother, who has left you on your own. You were wondering if you should, maybe talk to Genie when a pain in your arm brought you back to reality.
"ow!!!" you called out again " I wasn't ready that time!"
"haha sorry Nyra, I'll warn you next time."
"yeah, you better because it hurts." you complained.
"you such a winer!" Genie looked up at you again with a mischievous look in her eyes. You recognised that look from your mother so you ignored her last remark and said
"just pull the rest of them out...please" you said in a quiet voice
"sure thing, but it looks like we will be stuck here for a while because it looks like it is starting to rain."
Of course it was going to rain now. It really wasn't your day. So, then you and Genie were stuck in that cave for god knows how long. And as you learnt, Genie doesn't like awkward silences.
"So.. What happened to you? Those wounds wouldn't be from only a fall so if you are willing to tell me, I would like to know what got you all banged up? " at first you were reluctant to tell her but in the end Genie's concerned face made you feel like you could trust her and before you could stop yourself. It slipped out. "I was being chased by some people from a dark guild while trying to find my mum."
"Oh, I am so sorry. Wait you were looking for your mum? Are you lost then?"  you shook your head,
"no," you said sheepishly "she left me."
Genie's eyes fell, but she put on a brave smile for your sake.
"Don't you have any other family members you could go with?"
Again you shook your head,
"no I don't..." you choked out as you started to tear up.
"Oh dear, please don't cry, it will be OK!" Genie said as she climbed onto your lap.
'she is one brave cat, she didn't even know me until a few minutes ago'
"It doesn't matter, you are right about that because I am strong, all I need is a guild and I will be fine." you exclaimed while wiping you eyes with you right arm. (the non-hurting one) and sniffed your nose. Then you looked up at the cat and put on a brave face.
" If you don't mind me asking, Nyra but I can sense immense magical power radiating off of you, how come you weren't able to fight back? Were the dark wizards that powerful?"
" no," you started " I was afraid to hurt them, but I have learnt now that hesitation can lead to your's or someone else's last breath, so I will never again hesitate. Whether it is something stupid or not, I won't hesitate because I am not some weakling. I am a dragonslayer and I won't lose a battle without fighting with everything I've got first!" you yelled standing up and clenching your fists.
" That's the spi... Wait DRAGONSLAYER?!?!?! Woah, that is mega awesome. Mega awesome on a stick!!!" Genie shouted with you as she flew up and faced you with an excited look. Wait 'flew'???
" Genie, you're flying!!"
"that is because I am an exceed!"
"oh, an exceed that explains it then. Er what exactly is an exceed?"
"haha, and exceed is half cat and half angel-like creature."
"oh, that's why you can talk then?"
"yeah"
"hey, Nyra?"
"hmm?"
"can we be friends ?"
You looked at Genie as she looked at you, face full of worry and a hint of loneliness?
"Sure" you said as a small smile appeared on your tear-stained face.
"yay!!!!" Genie shouted as she flew up and hugged you. Gently you hugged her back and closed your eyes.
"Warning" Genie said out of nowhere.
"What do y- OWW!!!! Genie!!!"
"what? There was a thorn that I missed and I warned you."
At that you both burst out laughing.

FLASHBACK OVER.

You smiled at the memory.
"What is it Nyra?" the hot pink and black exceed asked you
"nothing," you replied and looked up at her face. "let's go back to Fairy Tail." with that Genie smirked and grabbed the back of your collar, flying away with you in tow. You made your way over to the massive guild Hall with a smirk on your face, determined to make the most epic entrance ever!!! You guys flew to the door and Genie put you down, then flew and landed on your shoulder.
"Ready, Genie?"
"ready."
"here we go!"
You slammed the door open and stared with a blank face inside the massive building,
expecting to be greeted with smiles and hugs when in reality you were greeted with a flying table.
