Someone Like You

Chapter 2

ZENIYAH

*Beep* *Beep* *Beep* *Beep* *Beep* *Beep*

I grab my phone and shut off my alarm then glared at my phone. My one day off and I forget to cancel my alarms. I set another one for 15 minutes and put my head back down. Not even 5 minutes later my phone starts ringing, I groan pissed off, and grab my phone wondering how the hell 15 minutes passed already. 

Confused I see a blocked number calling me. I mute it and roll over, not even 30 seconds later my phone starts vibrating again. I grab it ready to snap before remembering what my brother taught me. I pick up the phone and stay completely silent. 

"Hello! Hello," I hear after about 25 seconds later.

"Yes? Who is this?" I question confused, not recognizing the voice. 

"Alessandro, from yesterday, I'm sincerely apologetic for calling you this early but I need your help," He says sounding urgent. Suddenly the British accent sounds more familiar.

"Is everything ok?" I ask sounding more alert, hearing a baby wailing in the background. 

"No his fever didn't go down all night and he won't stop crying I've tried everything and I have to get him to stop soon," he says sounding panicked. 

"Ok alright, I'm on my way text me the address I'll get there as soon as I can I promise," I said getting out of bed to get ready. He thanked me and I hung up. 

I quickly hop in the shower and rinse my body simply because I can't leave the house without doing so. After getting dress and pulling my hair into a high bun, I put the address into maps and see 34 minutes. I text him that I'm on my way and start heading down. 

*30 minutes later*

I pull up in front of a huge plant wall and sit there confused. I call Alessandro and tell him I'm here but it's just a wall. Suddenly the wall starts to open and my jaw drops. I slowly drive forward into a round driveway around a fountain. I quickly park, grab the supplies I brought, and ran up the stairs to the house. Right as I'm about to knock the door is pulled open. 

"Oh thank the heavens," he says pulling me into a hug, I was caught off guard but then giggled rubbing his arm to calm him down as I feel his heart pounding. I'm not realizing he towers over me. 

"Follow me," he says leading me into the huge house. We walk down a separate hall with just 2 rooms. I can hear the baby crying from outside, when he opens the door the sound is multiplied. There was a mid-aged lady patting his chest and rubbing him. I quickly put down my bags and rush over to her and grab Junior and start patting his back while whispering calming things in his ear. 

I walk over to my bag and grabbed a new baby towel and wet it with cool water before patting it on his face. He's no longer crying but is still sniffling now just laying his head on my shoulder. I wipe his nose then rinse the towel again before continuing to pat it on his face and neck. 

I fill up a baby tub I find in a corner and fill it with warm water. I remove his diaper and use wipes to clean him off before putting him in the tub. I make sure to hold him up as he's not even fully awake. I wash his butt and move him to the sink to rinse off the soap. Once I dry his body, I start applying lotion, diaper rash cream, and baby powder before putting on another diaper. 

I pick him up and head out the bathroom to find Alessandro sitting on the bed with his head in his hands. He looks and sighs when he sees Junior is calm and sleeping. I place him in his crib and look up to find Alessandro standing near the bed. He sighs again and his eyes start to well up.

"Jesus Christ, I'm never going to be a good father" He whispers, his voice cracking. 

"No love don't say that I said rushing towards him" I pull him into my arms and he reaches down and wraps his arms around me. I feel his body shaking as he cries I rub his back whispering that it'll be ok. 

After a few minutes, he wipes his eyes and we go and sit on his bed. 

"I'm so sorry love, that was out of character," he said avoiding my eyes. 

"I can imagine," I said with a laugh. We sit there in silence for a few minutes before he speaks again. 

"I'm sorry for bothering you it's just my brother gets irritated easily, he and my sister are coming home today and I knew if I didn't get him to calm down he'd snap" he explains. 

"I'm sure he'd understand his nephew teething," I said, confused as to why his brother would be angered by his own nephew. 

"No my brother, he's...something else," He said with a laugh at the end. His phone suddenly begins to ring and he grabs it before sighing picking it up. 

"Alexandria, perché mi chiami, non hai 13 ore prima che ti venga a prendere? Sono solo le 6 del mattino" he says in a language I don't understand. 

Translation: "Alexandria, why are you calling me, don't you have 13 hours before I pick you up? It's only 6:00 in the morning."

"Shhhhhh" I shush him as Junior begins to fuss. I reach to pick him up and he automatically calms down. Alessandro continues to talk on his phone before hanging up and sighing heavily. 

"You sigh a lot," I said giggling. He cracks a smile before saying, 

"I have a huge favor to ask but I swear I'll make it up. I need to get my sister from the airport she just landed with my older brother. No one else can keep Junior calm. Please stay and watch him I'm begging" he says looking into my eyes. 

I sigh stretching my back. I literally can't say no to people and especially not an adorable baby in pain. 

"Can I take a nap? Please?" I asked. 

"Oh my god, of course, I have tank tops and joggers in the closet if you want to change, thank you so, so much" he hugs me and rushes out. I sigh and walk into the bathroom, and take down my hair.  I pull off my hoodie and slip on one of his T-shirts, thank god I only wore a sports bra. I grab Junior and climb into bed before laying him on my chest. I know cuddling helps babies sleep while they're teething.

I pull a blanket over us and rub his back slowly before falling asleep.

I know it's very slow right now but it gets better I swear
