it was safe to say that nakajima looked like he was about to piss in his pants.  in his time in the agency, never did he once been assigned as a partner to fukasaku. the two barely talked to each other, only doing so when fukasaku would be beside kunikida.  it wasn't that he didn't want to talk to her (he did), it just so happened that the sight of the woman would send him panicking.

the two were walking around town after completing their task.  nakajima was still surprised as to how fast he was able to complete the job.  she wasn't as good as edogawa, no, but she was probably second best.  the respect that nakajima had for her previously went up, admiration present in his eyes which remained unnoticed to fukasaku.

suddenly, a stomach rumbling erupted between the two.  the two detectives looked at each other, eyes widened by a fraction.  a small giggle left fukasaku's lips before it became full-blown laughter accompanied by nakajima's own.

"let's go eat."  nakajima nodded, following his senior as they walked into a ramen shop.  fukasaku greeted the owner, a smile on her lips as she sat on the barstool.  nakajima followed, bowing to the owner as he settled down.  the owner approached them after finishing one of his customer's orders, asking them for theirs.

"tonkotsu ramen for me!  add some tempura to it too!  what about you, atsushi?"  nakajima stated his own choice, making the owner nod and leave the two for the time being.  now was the nerve-wracking part, the small talk.  nakajima wanted to ask so many questions but he didn't know where to start.  this is the time to get to know his senior, and yet he can't even calm down for it.

"i know you have some questions for me, get to it."  that caused nakajima to yelp, jumping a bit from his seat as he looked at a smirking fukasaku.  "you expect me not to know when you've asked ranpo about it before?  not to mention the stares i'd get in the office."

nakajima was now contemplating whether or not dazai's double suicide was more ideal than the embarrassment he was getting from their conversation.  he sucked in a breath, slowly exhaling in an attempt to calm himself (it didn't work).

"w-well, it's just that i don't know much about you!  even though we've both been in the office for some time now..."  nakajima muttered some things after that as well, but both parties did not understand a thing he said.

"what do you want to know?"  amethyst eyes gazed into him, almost as if it was bearing into his soul.  however, instead of becoming more of a nervous wreck, he was able to calm down.  her eyes that were so beautiful felt so calming and warm, yet there was still an obvious barrier between the two.  he wondered whether or not she ever lowered that barrier of hers.

"how did you and kunikida-san become close?"

i am back!  my break took longer than i expected but nevertheless am here.  neways, i actually had a plan for this book but i actually really like the mood that has been set??  i'm a sucker for the fluff stories out there but i also really like writing dark stuff??  irdk what i plan for this book but for now the vibe will stay the same.

in other news, i just watched the violet evergarden movie last night!  i cried way too much and i'm sad that violet evergarden is now officially over.  i do hope to one day be able to buy the light novel if they ever do release an official english translation.
