A/N: I figured after the last update, we could all use a lighthearted, lengthy story! So, here we go!

Song: Put Your Head On My Shoulder (Remastered) by Paul Anka

Missions like these never used to drag out like this.

Although doing recon and surveillance on potential targets has never been exciting, when the weather had decided to just be plain miserable the second you and your Partner had stepped foot into the small, seemingly unproblematic town out in the Colorado countryside, things just decided to run steeply downhill from there.

First, you'd both somehow managed to completely lose track of time while settling into the safehouse a few miles on the outskirts of town, dealing with finding enough buckets to catch the water leaking through the roof.

And then, as the heavens decided to open their floodgates even wider, the both of you had wound up in a heap of trouble the moment you'd walked through the door of the local bar, having been told your potential targets were likely usuals.

Let's just say, that now, as you slide under a nearby table, dodging a drunken swing from some idiot's empty beer bottle, you're quickly becoming extremely annoyed.

At everything.

Especially your Partner's unwillingness to intervene completely with the strength you know for a fact he has.

But, you understand.

He's done hurting people. He'd already done enough of that while under HYDRA's control.

Even still, though, it would be nice if he'd do something to help you out.

"Buck, would you please-" You begin, only to be abruptly cut off as a bottle whizzes past your head, shattering against the wall behind you.

Bucky Barnes is standing off to the side, watching the events in front of you both unfold with an evidently deepening scowl, a rather dark glint beginning to form in his gaze.

The man that had taken a swing at you earlier decides to take another crack at it, though this time, there's nowhere else to continue running.

Grunting in frustration, you watch as his fist nears your face, stopping it before it comes into contact, glaring your attacker square in the eye while he stands there, absolutely shocked.

Wordlessly twisting his wrist, bending his arm and pinning it behind his back, you shove him forward against the nearby bar, his drunken murmuring almost making you chuckle.

"Are you done?" You growl, tightening your grip around his wrist and pulling against his arm even more. "Are you?"

"Yes, yes! I'm sorry!" He cries, practically begging for some sort of mercy from you.

"Good."

With that, you give his arm one last harsh yank before shoving him against the countertop once more for good measure, finally letting go.

But, as you turn to head back towards the door and towards your Partner, an unexpected fist collides with the side of your head, sending you reeling.

"You're a feisty one, aren't ya?" The man who had hit you taunts as you regain your footing, glancing around the room for the familiar figure of the former Winter Soldier.

"I am," You reply, wiping a bead of blood away from your lower lip where his ring had managed to tear open, squaring up and eyeing him down.

Your new attacker just smirks, grabbing another empty beer bottle off of the table beside him, a sudden clap of thunder and a bolt of lightening illuminating his scarred features through the window in a white light.
