THAT ILLUSION || Chasing the call of the chasm.
Earth is haunted, and they have come to save the earthlings before it's too late.
The Narngon school of magic is the only source of remedy for this silently perishing world. The trio of infamous queens...
"Well then, this is Hugh Azarious and that's Aaron Thogers, Hugh's friend. They both are illusionists and abjurers as of now," Galene gave a short introduction.
"Illusionists? They are amazing and tough together." Serephina tried to lighten the grip.
"So true, that defines their nature. Now you both would apologise to them for being mean. Right?" She ordered them to gain some repulsive stares. But when she pushed them with her fierce glares they finally gave in. The girls felt a sense of belonging and pride rush through them.
"Okay girls, your room is on the right through this foyer. Get comfortable and relax. I will go and prepare the food." Galene stood to depart while Eir interrupted her.
"Where are our belongings? I saw them fall along with us when we were tricked."
"Ah! Don't worry, dear. It's already in there," she assured and took her steps towards the kitchen. The boys followed her after giving the girls a witty smile.
They walked as informed and reached their pleasing vast room. There were three white oak cots sided with a massive turquoise topped Demilune table. A butterfly side table, placed behind the elegantly carved burnt wooden door, had their satchels and belongings. Three bean bags and wooden chairs each were kept in the corners. The mat pearl chaise lounge added charm to their white wooden room. These were the very same furniture and floors they had in Narngons but a tint of cerulean waves made them feel the difference. The glimpse of what they had seen delighted their mood.
When Serephina and Eir walked past the white cots towards the closets, Mordana fell on the cot after freeing herself from her accessories.
"Toad! Get up and freshen. There are three closets here," Eir commented.
"Aye aye. Ms Curie Queenie, I need a little nap. Let me fetch that first and then I shall freshen up. Now you both will go in and come out soon. Don't take an eternity with waters and lathers." Her timid answer made Eir roll her eyes a bit.
"She is always like that. Let's go," Serephina gestured while collecting her towels and light linen robes.
They went inside and let the cool waters rush through their tired torso and they could feel their freshness reviving with every droplet that trickled on them. After a fine relaxation with the dribbling waters and frothy foams, the girls wrapped their torso with the thick towels. Stepping out of the wet teal tiled floors, Eir wore a blue-gold tank top with her white long bottoms. Serephina chose a common olive shirt for her floral skirt.
"Are you done?" Eir questioned to which Serephina hummed. "Hope that woman is at least awake. Her grave slumbers aren't easy," she chided Mordana while pushing through the patterned glass doors.
When the two were about to get out Mordana was already ready, elegant and energised in her crisscross shirt and knee-length bottom.
"Didn't I tell you guys to be quick? I know sloths can't be changed." With that spoofing talk, she opened the door went out of their cosy room. Without any more fuss, the three women walked through the foyer, letting their steps echo through the ivory arched ceiling that had candle chandeliers dancing to sing their ballad of cheer.
When they looked around to know where they were to go, they could notice Galene and the boys waiting for them in the hall. On seeing them, Galene gestured them to a door on their left and everyone entered in to get greeted by the versatile aroma of food.
The chessboard dining table had almost every dish from clear soup and sauced salads to steaming grills of truffles and meat of Aramaur. Galene placed the plates and served the dinner and poured out an apple drink on their glasses. She sat confronting Serephina while Eir and Mordana faced Aaron and Hugh.
"Shall we do our prayers?" Galene enquired while everyone nodded and mumbled a short hymn. After that, they took their cutlery and began feasting whatever was served on their plates. Without any words, they had their food until a point when Eir broke the silence.
"Sorry to interrupt. Everything seems fine and in place. As far as we see, people are having a normal life here. Neither we did notice any worries on their face nor yours. But we were told to liberate a haunting soul by Sir Azarious. Mrs Galene can you please clear this?" She inquired while her tongue relished the perfectly cooked cuisine.
"You are more keen Eir. Yes, we shall speak all about this soon. Let's eat in peace," she said with her voice a bit stern than usual.
"It's okay mom they can know that now. It will help them prepare," Hugh made his voice between his busy chewing.
Eir and her peers looked happy as he could understand their motive. Considering her son's words Galene made up her mind to speak it. But before she could utter a word, they all could feel the ground shaking vigorously only to stay still after some seconds. The pieces of furniture that danced had cracked and damaged the glass floors and wooden rimmed walls.
Too many questions and thoughts flooded in the trio's mind. But before they could retch them they could see flashes of cramoisy lightning and purple embers on the cerulean waters that made them turn black.
"Rush to the cottage!" Galene yelled being aware of what was happening. Without any counter, everyone did as she instructed while beads of sweat and uncalled fears greeted their bloodstream from the recent encounter.
