Chapter 16- RUMOURS

Same day in college(after the classroom incident)

After the class the gang went to the canteen to chill for a while before they headed home.

Rinni- aaj class bahut interesting thi na guys…
Everyone looked at her for her stupidity but deep down they knew it was true.
Simmi- Waise Sharon tum iss ladke ko itna kyun dekh rahi thi?
Swayam was immediately alarmed and so were the rest.
Sharon- shut up Simmi… you know what shayad mein usse janti hoon...but I can't recognise him
Swayam(little jealous)- Haan to yaad karne ki bhi kya zaroorat...kya farak padhta hai...hoga koi idiot baaki ladko ki tarah ho tumhare peeche padha hoga.
Sharon (raising her eyebrows)- really...so says Swayam...aur waise bhi tumhe kya problem hai, tum dekho na uss nayi ladki ko and smile karte raho…
The gang knew what was coming...some thought they would fight while some knew they were jealous.

Rey( trying to cool them)- guys chodo na hum Kyun bekar mein uss newbie ke baare mein baat kare. Hume kya karna hai.
Sharon heard Rey and immediately thought how intently that guy was looking at Taani.
Sharon (in mind)- karna to kuch nahi hai...but why do I feel ki ye humari in fact tumhare life mein important hone wala hai... should I tell him about it...no no Rey waise bhi Taani ko lekar itna confused or stressed hota hai.
Rey- Sharon…kya soch Rahi ho
Sharon- you are right hume kya karna.

The gang became busy in themselves when Ayesha walked in the canteen. All the boys in the canteen looked her way. Even the boys in the gang except Swayam and Rey looked her way.
Nil- yaar kya ladki hai
Vicky- sahi mein yaar...chal baat karte hai.
Bharat- abee woh tum logo ko ghas bhi nahi dalegi.
Now the girls also noticed her. Sharon was utterly surprised. She stood up.
Sharon- Ayesha?
Ayesha heard Sharon and looked at her. For the first time Ayesha smiled. She came upto to Sharon and hugged her...quite formally.
Ayesha- thank God Sharon tum yaha ho...warna yahan itne wannabes hai it's so difficult to stand. I mean seriously how do you even manage here...it's so disgusting.
Sharon was speechless. She didn't know what to reply. Yes there was a time she behaved like her.
Bharat- bhailog ye kon hai be… saala gali di apun ko.
Vicky- chill kar isme purani Sharon ko atma aa gayi hai.

Everyone laughed at the thought of their old days.
Sharon- ah Ayesha tum yaha kaise?
Ayesha- I am here for the new interior design course.
Sharon- oh really... great meri ek friend bhi hai ussi course mein.
Ayesha- that's nice mujhe usse introduce kar do...otherwise it's so difficult to talk to people there...kuch log to pata nahi apne aap ko kya samajhte (thinking about Taani)
The gang was quite amused at this new figure. However they knew her attitude was now a misfit in St. Louis.
Sharon(turning towards the gang)- Guys ye Ayesha hai. Humare dad's ek dusre ko jaante hai so hum kayi baar Delhi mein mile hain… and Ayesha these are my friends as well as my dance team.
Ayesha- oh hey guys…( she went ahead to shake hands with Rey, Swayam and the girls but evidently ignored the boys)

Meanwhile Sharon was in deep thought. Suddenly she had a realisation.
Sharon- guys now I understood
Girls- kya
Sharon- hey Ayesha tumhara ek bhai bhi hai na...like your twin.
Ayesha- haan
Sharon(thinking)- kya naam tha uska…
Ayesha- Abhay
Sharon- right...woh bhi yaha hai na.
Ayesha- haan...woh usse hi admission mila tha architecture mein isliye to hum dono yaha hai…
Sharon- right...so that was Abhay only jo hume class mein mila tha…
Simmi- kon woh ladka abhi…
Sharon- haan I told you na ki I think I know him...woh Abhay tha...kaafi saal ho gaye hai mile hua isliye didn't recognise.
Ayesha- oh to tum Abhay se mil chuki...pata nahi kaha hai subah se mein usse dondh rahi hoon.
Sharon- Haan woh hamare class mein tha abhi thodi der pehle...I remember tum dono kaafi alag ho even though you guys are twins. Shayad tum dono ke 18th birthday party pe I met him.
Ayesha- ya I remember...and you are right hum dono sirf by default twins hai...woh to apni hi duniya mein rehta hai...his studies, music aur uske kabhi zyada friends bhi nahi the...I mean uske jo thode friends hai bhi to pata nahi kaha se utth aaye hai...like he really needs some standard.
Sharon (irritated by her attitude)- come on uski life hai...jo bhi hai uske friends hai…
Bharat to the boys- abee isse dekh kar wahi purani dazzler wali feelings aa rahi hai…
Vicky- haan yaar but strange ab to usme mazza bhi nahi aata... infact bura lagta hai…
Nil- yaar hum aise the kya…
Simmi- hum to apne hi dhun mein rahte the…
Rinni- thank God ab hum aise nahi hai.
Rey, Swayam and Kriya just listened to them and smiled.
