"Come on buck get on" Sam says. We just waited in line to go on a ride and James doesn't want to get on.
"I'm not going on that thing" he says stubbornly.
"Why don't you guys go ride the disco ball and James and I go buy cotton candy?" I suggest. This is supposed to be a fun day not a day of arguing.
"You know yeah take him with you." Sam says getting on the ride with Sarah and the kids.
I notice James has started walking. This man has the legs of a light pole. Long and huge taking steps like a giant.
"Wait for me I have small legs!" I yell out running toward him. He stops waiting for me to catch up.
I notice we're at the cotton candy stand. "Oh! One purple. Which color do you like?"
"I don't want cotton candy" James says. The man hands me a purple cotton candy and I reach for my card.
James hands the man a five dollar bill. "Oh no, I'll be paying" I say before the vendor takes the money.
"Take the money" James says. The mans eyes turn into saucers and he quickly hands him his change.
"Thank you have a good one!" I say to the vendor offering him an apologetic smile.
I pluck a piece of cotton candy and eat it. "Cotton candy reminds me of The trees in the Lorax"
I offer him a piece of sugary goodness. "Thanks for paying by the way. I'm buying the drinks"
"I can pay for the drinks" James says emotionless. Everything that comes out from sounds like a robot. He's eyes are always sad looking and tired.
"It's cool. I like to pay, let's keep it 50/50" I say I pluck a piece of cotton candy.
"Today I offer you sugar. Tomorrow I don't know" I say handing it to him. He takes it and puts it in his mouth.
"Thanks" he mutters while the purple dye stains his mouth.
"Let's go on the tea cups, or is that too much for you to handle?" I taunt evilly.
"No" he says quickly.
The line is short on the teacups. We finally get on and the cup creaks from the old metal. I take the wheel in my hands in the middle of the cup and make us spin.
"WEEEEE" I say going ridiculously fast. James holds on to the side with one hand not even phased.
"Your turn" I say looking at the wheel and back to him. The takes his metal arm and gives it a hard turn making us go fucking fast.
The kinda fast you feel when your about to hit another reality while high. "OHH MY GOd" I croak out from the spinning.
The ride starts and the tea cups start to spin themselves. The ride lifts making a huge clashing noise.
I'm still trying to recover from buckets first spin. The ride ends and I try to stand up.
I look like a drunk getting escorted out of a club. My world is completely spinning.
Finally I make my way out of the ride with my head spinning. "That was fun but I need a shot of tequila"
I see a little smile on Barnes face peaking through. "Seeing me in everlasting pain is amusing to you"
"No just entertaining" he says holding back a smirk.
"Rude, I thought I was going into another dimension" I say narrowing my eyes playfully.
"It wasn't that fast" he defends smirking.
"Not that fast? I preTty damn sure I saw or witnessed Jesus" I say being dramatic. He hides a laugh between his lips.
"Are you hungry yet? Because I'm starving" I say not waiting for a response. I see a small burger restaurant around near the end of the fair.
"Come on let's go to Bernie's banging burgers" I say squinting my eyes to read the sign.
"It's bacon burgers" he say looking at the sign then at me.
"Did I ever mention I needed corrective lenses?" I ask heading toward the restaurant.
He shakes his head. "No i don't think you did"
"Now you know" I say sarcastically opening the door. The little bell on the top of the door jingles.
"Welcome to bernies!" A preppy 15 year old says.
We take a seat at a booth. I grab the menu from in front of us. "Mhm...a burger with extra bacon and cheese sounds great but high cholesterol doesn't"
"What are you ordering?" I ask James not looking up from my menu.
"I want to try the cheeseburger with fries and a..." he looks at the menu carefully "dipping milkshake?"
"Yeah you dip your fries in the shake" I clarify. "You know what I'm going to get the double bacon cheeseburger"
"Are you guys ready to order?" The young girl says with an iPad in hand.
"Yeah I'll take the double bacon cheeseburger, fries hold the salt and a large Oreo milkshake" I say finishing my order. James quickly tells her his order and their off to being made.
