He slowly took the band connecting him to the heart monitor and slipped it to Black Whip. He held his breath nervously, but after only a short, barely noticeable drop, the beeping of the now false heartbeat continued as normal. Izuku cheered, grinning. Sure, he was aching all over and hurt like hell, a headache ripping through him, but this proved he could still do something, even as the torso-only lego person he was.
Izuku grit his teeth, preparing for exhaustion. This would be difficult, seeing as he couldn't detach the IV drip, so he needed another tendril of Black Whip. Izuku summoned one, leaning against the back of the chair as he breathed heavily.
He rested for a few moments, trying to catch his breath again. He manipulated Black Whip to hold the IV, and experimented with how well he could control it. Pretty well, he discovered, so long as he kept a grip on the quirk.
Izuku breathed in deeply, preparing himself. Yes, this was his first try and he shouldn't expect it to work. He should rest; after all, he'd already used his quirk and gotten out of the bed in one attempt.
But at the same time, he didn't want to wait. Besides, how proud would Ryuko be, seeing Izuku could already do so much?
He didn't want to just sit in bed and think.
Izuku held his breath and released the tendril around the IV, manipulating it to come over and wrap around his waist. Slowly, he lowered himself to the floor and grinned.
Now for the hard part.
Izuku summoned One For All in his arms, smiling in greeting at the wisps of green lighting arcing around his arms. He set himself down on the ground with Black Whip until his hands were flat on the floor, and let himself go.
He was still for a moment. But after one, two, now three long moments, he was still supporting his entire body with just his arms and quirk.
Izuku laughed and whooped, forcing himself not to collapse. Black Whip raced back over to the IV, and without Izuku telling it to, another tendril shot out to form a loose circle around his waist; a support bar.
Izuku lifted on hand and moved it forward, like he was walking.
He fell.
Black Whip immediately tightened to catch him, and he thanked the sentient quirk. By this time, he was getting dizzy and sweat was dripping down his face.
"Okay," he panted, voice hoarse. "Lift me back on the bed now." The tendril connected to the heart monitor quickly replaced itself with Izuku's arm, and aided the other two tendrils in slowly lifting Izuku back up to the bed.
They didn't quite make it.
Even as the quirk was sentient, it was still feeding off of Izuku's energy. And he didn't exactly have a surplus of that.
Safe to say, he absolutely terrified the nurse that came in to check on him, only to find her charge lying on the floor unconscious.

Aizawa sat on his couch in his apartment, tired from setting up the bed in the guest bedroom for Izuku. Mic was making dinner in the kitchen, and Eri was drawing on the floor. Shinsou was watching a show on TV. He sighed, knowing he'd probably be the one to tell the kids.
