|7| If This Isn't Pure Misery, Then What Is?

Start from the beginning

"I've broken my arms more times than I can count," Izuku said bitterly, animosity dripping off his every word. "I've fought villains pros haven't been able to take down and won. I've gone from breaking a bone every time I use my quirk to being able to control it well enough to take down a serial killer, in under a week!" He was nearly yelling now, tears dripping down worn red tracks in his face. "And for what - a roof and a storm to erase all of that?! I can't be a hero now; I can't do anything now!"

Mic frowned sympathetically. "Hey, that's not true."

"How is that not true?!" Izuku screamed. "Because you 'believe in me'?! That doesn't do jack shit!"

Aizawa pushed Izuku down to rest against the back of the bed. "Calm down. We're not saying it's a guarantee you're going to recover. We're not saying it's going to be easy to do anything at all now." Izuku glared heavily.

"Thank you, for summing that up."

"But," Aizawa pointedly ignored his student, "absolutely nothing will happen if you sit there and scream."

"Then what do you suggest I do?" Izuku said dryly. "Go and frolic through a meadow of roses and sunshine? Oh wait." Sarcasm dripped off his voice, his glare heavy.

Aizawa dragged a hand down his face. "No, don't do that. You can't anyway."

"Thank you again, for summing that up."

"Actually work for it." Aizawa said. "You're going to have to accept this and push around it."

Izuku nodded, giving him a mock smile. "Of course, what a great idea. I should just ignore the fact that I'm missing two limbs crucial to my motor function and push around it! My entire fighting style isn't based off of my legs! Why didn't I think of that?" He stared at the two pointedly.

Aizawa groaned. "I swear to god, I am going to wring you by the neck and hang you by your toes-"

"I don't have toes!"

Mic set a hand on Aizawa's chest. "Okay, let's chill out. Shouta, give him some good news."

Aizawa sighed. "Yeah, okay. Good news; both your friends are safe."

Izuku looked confused for a moment before realization dawned on his face. "Kerosena and Ryuko! Are they okay? Where's Kerosena?!"

"Kerosena ran off five minutes after we arrived. Said she planned to come back when she was fifty, no sooner." Izuku cracked a grin at that.

"Yeah..." he whispered.

Aizawa filed that away for later. "Ryuko is staying at his aunts house. More good news; your foster parents no longer have guardianship over you and will not have guardianship over other children for the foreseeable future."

Izuku's head snapped up. "How did you know."

Aizawa raised an eyebrow at him, "really? I'm an underground hero, have been for twenty years. I'd like to think I'd know when my own problem child was being abused. Speaking of which, we've still got to ask a few questions about that." Izuku nodded, his expression giving away just how relieved he was.

Yamada's eyes flickered between the two impatiently. "Oh come on Sho, get to the good good part!"

He rolled his eyes fondly. "Yeah yeah. Midoriya," Aizawa looked to Izuku seriously. "Given your mother's..."
