Shinsou had been silent during the small conversation. "How was he injured?"
Aizawa sighed. "Midoriya was injured very badly. He lost both of his legs." Eri tilted her head.
"He broke his bones? Was he fighting a villain?" Her eyes sparkled at the prospect. "I bet he won! He won super fast, cause he's an awesome hero!"
Aizawa shook his head. "He didn't fight a villain. He was caught in a collapsing building and his legs got badly injured." Aizawa paused. "But he did save someone."
Eri looked down. "So what's wrong with him?" Shinsou nodded, looking to his father.
Aizawa sighed. "His legs were injured badly. They had to remove them." Shinsou's eyes widened in understanding.
"He's an amputee now." Aizawa nodded. Shinsou looked down. "...wow."
"Yeah. So I'm going to need you guys to not freak out about it, alright? Try not to mention it." Eri nodded quickly, and Shinsou grunted.
"Where's he sleepin'?"
"If we get the guest bedroom done in time, there."
Shinsou nodded. "And when's he getting here?"
"A week maybe. We don't know yet."
Shinsou nodded and stood up, stretching lazily. "Then I'd better go text his weird friends; I hear he cries a lot and they might know how to deal with it."

How Izuku finds it in himself to be such a shit and refuse to properly rest every time he's in the hospital, he doesn't know.
What he does know, however, is that Black Whip is definitely sentient and definitely has a conscience. He can prove it too.
Proof #1: Black Whip acts like a mom (which is really sad to think about right now)
Multiple times, the shit eating quirk has slapped Izuku away from removing his heart monitor when he tries to go another hand-walking expedition. It will appear without Izuku telling it to and will push him back down on the bed to make him sleep.
His quirk is mother henning him.
Proof #2: Black Whip encourages him (?)
The quirk will pat him on the head when he successfully eats enough dinner and will push the food toward him if he hasn't. It prompts him to keep trying to accomplish whatever physical activity the nurses have left him with, be it a puzzle or coloring sheet.
His quirk is acting like his doctor.
Proof #3: Black Whip is his crutch
The damned quirk will wake him up during nightmares (of which he has plenty, with not much else to do other than sleep) and wraps around his hand when he can't stand the thought of what happens when he's discharged. It rubs his back when he wakes up from nightmares. It will even squeeze his arm when he feels too numb.
His quirk is sentient and Izuku somehow doesn't really mind it.
"What are you doing now...?" Izuku mumbled as Black Whip curled in random movements in front of him. It was kind of nice to watch though.
