Demetri pulled me even tighter against him, which I thought was impossible but of course I was proven wrong. We were so close my back was flat out pressed against his chest.

"What do you mean he wants them." Demetri said with a low growl.

"He wants his own coven, the perfect mate, a beautiful child." Edward told him.

Nessie whimpered softly and rested her head against my thigh as I began brushing her thick curls with my fingers.

"We won't let you be taken, your my daughter and Reneesme is my granddaughter, he can't just-" Esme was cut off by another scream from Seth making her wince.

I sighed and leaned my head back, resting it on Demetri's shoulder.

"Why is it, that whenever things start to get better they take a turn for the worse? We really must be damned." I muttered.

"Don't say that." Demetri and Esme chided me in unison.

I rolled my eyes and tucked my head into his neck, trying to avoid the problem.

Jasper looked at me intently and I felt a rush of optimism flood through me.

"Jazz stop." I said while narrowing my eyes at him.

He gave me a crooked grin, "Sorry Beck."

Alice rested her hand on my shoulder, "Things will turn up, they always do."

"Yeah, but a tragedy always strikes beforehand." I reminded her.

"Name one."

"Before Bella was turned she was hunted down by James and he bit her, Edward left her, she almost died going to save him, an army of newborns was sent after her, and the Volturi almost slaughtered us afterwords."

By the time I finished Alice's face was pinched up, like she had tasted something sour.

"I said one." She mumbled.

"Well, my many examples show my point."

"Demetri can you please go and calm down your mate." Alice asked.

I groaned and relaxed my body, giving out my full weight. Demetri chuckled and lifted me with ease, making Ness plop down where we had been previously.

In seconds we were in my room. I groaned again and face planted into my large white bed.

I felt a part of the bed indent beside me and I buried myself further in.

"What's wrong?" He whispered to me softly while laying down and taking hold of my hand.

"I just wish everything could go smoothly for once." I said, but it came out as, "I bish ebery thing cud go smoobly bor once." Due to my face being planted into the comforter.

In a matter of seconds I was on my back with Demetri in front of me, arms rested on either side of me head.

"That's better." He said with a smirk.

"Ha. Ha."

"Please tell me what's wrong." He said while burying his face back into my neck.

I sighed, "I want things to be normal and good for once."

"I think you kind of lost that when you became a vampire."

"Your great at making people feel better aren't you." I said sarcastically.
