"Really?" Casper whispered, helping Janus up. Janus nodded. Grabbing the blanket from his bag.

"Here! Now go home... Your Ma is probably worried.." Casper nodded, rushing off. Janus smiled, quickly walking home. The dark night concealed his movements, the moon on its way to bed. Janus giggled at the thought, sneaking into the house once more. He set his bag down, silently taking his shoes off and sneaking back to the room he shared with his brother. He climbed back into the too high up bed that he shared, cuddling back into Virgil.

"Where were you?" Virgil mumbled, his hold tightening on Janus.

"I had to go to the outhouse... Got distracted by the sheep. They looked lonely" Janus lied. Virgil hummed, closing his eyes again and falling back to sleep. Janus hummed, falling asleep quickly.

Virgil groaned, the sun burning his back as he was bent over the work bench, carving the handle to a pitchfork someone was going to get from trading them some extra food. His father patted him on the back, Virgil winced from the feeling of it. He had taken his shirt off, the day and forge being extremely hot for whatever reason. He could understand the forge, not the damn sun. He sighed, grabbing the gloves that did next to nothing, and slipping his shirt back on to add wood to the forge. His arm caught on the edge, and he cursed, finishing putting the piece of wood in before taking off his gloves and holding the burn on his arm. He quickly went to the cold water they kept near in case of this, dripping some of it onto the burn. He hissed, clenching his eyes shut. Janus seemed to materialize at his side, holding some cloth to wrap the burn in. Virgil sighed, picking Janus up and setting him on the bench so he could better reach the bucket. Janus dipped the cloth in the cold water, cleaning Virgils burn before taking another piece to wrap it to make sure Virgil didn't brush it up on anything.

"Thank you Jan..." Virgil murmured. "Shouldn't you be with Ma learning to sew?" Janus squeaked, jumping down and rushing back into the house. Virgil laughed lightly, shaking his head.

Janus peeked his head into his room, looking at Virgil who laid in bed with a fever. Janus was scared of what would happen if his brother didn't get better soon. He and his mother had tried everything they knew to bring it down. Nothing was helping. Janus wasn't even aloud in the room anymore. Tears were rolling down Virgils face.

"Your not meant to be in here Jan" Virgil croaked out. His throat felt like he was swallowing a million splinters no matter how much water he drank. Janus stepped into the room regardless, climbing into the bed. "You'll get sick, go help Ma" Virgil whispered, panting slightly.

"Only dummies get sick" Janus said with a smile. Virgil chuckled.

"You calling me dumb you twerp?" Janus giggled.

"Maybeeee" He said with a smile. Virgil rolled his eyes with a smile.

"Go help Ma, ill be ok Jan"

"I know... But cuddles made me feel better last time I was sick... So maybe it'll help you?" Virgil shook his head with a fond smile.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night" Janus giggled, laying down next to Virgil. "You do have to help Ma son though Jan" Virgil said , trying to catch his breath. Janus nodded.

"I know"

Janus poked Virgils cheek.

"Why cant we go outside?" Virgil shook his head.

"It's snowing dumby, Ma cant find our heavy coats" Janus groaned.

"Cant we help then?"

"Ma said to cook soup for dad, he's been outside in the barn all day" Janus nodded, looking back to the carrots he had been chopping up, giving them to Virgil soon after.

"Can we give some to my friend Nico?" Virgil shook his head.

"I'm sure Nico has his own food Jan... Winter is really harsh this year, we need to keep as much food as we can" Janus nodded with a frown. Virgil looked around the room, leaning down to Janus. "If we have some left ill sneak some for you to give him ok?" Janus nodded quickly, grabbing the bowls he had helped make so long ago, setting them on the table with spoons. The twos father came into the house, closing the door quickly to hopefully not let to much of the cold air in.

"What's for dinner boys?" He said with his usual smile. Janus giggled.

"Soup!"

Janus yawned, leaning his head on the table. The sewing needle falling to the table along with the thread.

"Keep at it Janus, you'll get there soon!" His Ma told him, walking past him and outside into the sunny outside with the washed clothes she was going to hand up on the side of the house. Janus nodded, grabbing the needle again, he heard a curse from Virgil and he wondered what had happened. His Ma walked back in, seeing how tired Janus was. "Go take a quick nap Jan... You look very tired, did you not sleep last night?" Janus shrugged, putting away his work in the basket by the steps. He pressed a quick kiss to his mother cheek, walking up the steps right after. He fell asleep quickly.
