All Newt could do is stare in shock when he saw you. After nearly a year of not knowing if you were alive, he could finally put his mind to rest. You were a runner in the maze when Newt had arrived, and his best friend. You did everything together. You were his partner for running, you ate meals together, hung out on rainy days, confided in each other. He honestly considered you to be his first love, but then everything changed. You disappeared. You didn't make it back into the glade one night, and it crushed him. He was a wreck for months when you disappeared. He hardly ate, didn't run, didn't speak. He was a shell of himself, but deep down he just felt like you were still alive. No one believed him and told him to get over you after a month. But the strange thing was, no one had ever recovered your body. He eventually stopped, and felt a hard heart when they got 'recsued' from the maze without you. Then there you stood. Down the hallway in your Wicked uniform, following the guards mindlessly- until you saw him. Everything seemed to stop.
