Pasts and promises

"Again?" Flip hummed, wrapping his arms tighter around you. "You hardly slept this week, baby." His voice was still raspy, barely awake himself. You smiled to yourself, knowing that those tainted thoughts in your head were already gone. See? You didn't need any medication or a personal call to your therapist...you had him.

"Something keeping you up?" His voice seemed more awake now as he tried to tread lightly. You could tell he was trying to ask if you were okay, seeing if anything happened in the last couple of hours he slept beside you.

"It's...too crowded." You chewed on your bottom lip, feeling Flip lift himself onto his elbow. You turned your head to look at him, watching as he pouted his lips. You could tell he was in deep thought, trying to figure out what you were trying to say.

"In my head." You mumbled up to him, scared that he would start to see you as crazy. It sounded like you had multiple voices in your head for fucks sake. You just felt claustrophobic with everything you were thinking about. Sure, it was fine now, but what would happen when he falls back asleep? They would likely just come right back...

"Oh." Flip nodded his head down at you. "Are you okay?" His tone was weird, fishing for information again. You nodded your head as you blinked up at him. You were telling him the truth, knowing that you were completely fine right now.

You guess the fact that you were chewing on your lip again, gave something away. Flip sat up on his arm more, his other hand on your hip. He pulled on your hip, causing you to turn to face him.

"Let's go out." Flip muttered down to you, stifling a yawn. This caused you to tilt your head over to him, furrowing your eyebrows as a smile spread across your lips.

"Baby, no..." You shook your head at him. "You're tired." You laughed when he adjusted himself, now hovering over you. He growled down at you before pecking a kiss against your lips.

"Am not." he muttered down at you, leaning his head over again. He started leaving a soft trail of kisses around your cheek.

"And what would we even do?" A giggle slipped past your lips as you slipped your fingers into his hair. He continued to plant soft kisses around your jaw now, humming to himself. You shut your eyes closed, biting on on your lip as his lips were now trailing down your neck.

"We can go to the diner and grab some coffees..." He trailed off as one of his hands gripped your shirt, pulling it down just enough to reveal your collarbones to him. You could feel goosebumps spreading across your body as he left gentle kisses on your chest.

"We could drive around...get out of the city for a bit..." He hummed to himself, lifting his head from your chest. You swallowed the lump in your throat, blinking over to him. It sounded like an amazing idea, moving around while you couldn't sleep. You didn't know how much longer you could lie in that bed, your sleepless thoughts overcoming you.

"That does sound like fun..." You trailed off, chewing on the inside of your cheek, scared to give him a definite answer. Flip chuckled as he leaned over, placing his lips against yours. He hummed against your lips before he lifted his head again.

"Let's go." He smirked down at you, now nudging one of your hips.

You two were quick to get dressed, packing up the truck and driving towards the diner. You were leaning against your window, looking up towards the sky. You could feel the chill in the air from Flip's window as he puffed on his cigarette, watching some of the stars twinkle down at you.

The passing street lights whited out your vision, drowning out the stars above you. When you couldn't see them shining down at you anymore, you looked over to Flip. He was taking another drag of his cigarette, flicking it against the window to ash it out.
