"Okay class, today I'm not feeling very well, so just read these articles about medical phenomena and accidents. Write a report on any one you like about the type of wound the victim suffered and which healing spell out of the ones you've learned would help that person the most." Professor Krone lazily slapped a small stack of papers on her desk, slowly walking to the door. "Have fun kiddos." It clicked behind her, the rest of us students glancing at each other perplexedly. Was- Was she leaving? Did she just leave? Emma had already pulled up a chair to Norman and I's desk, grinning widely. "Let's do this shit!" We headed to the Professor's desk, shuffling through the medical reports as the others chatted in the teacher's absence. Better than a lecture for two hours, I guess. I took a random paper from the middle of the stack, shrugging. "Let's just get this done so I can take a nap." Emma, who was equally as nonchalant nudged my shoulder, giggling. "y/n, you literally sleep the night away. Why are you always so tired?" I grabbed a random paper for Norman, he looked like he was thinking too hard about it and was stuck between two cases. Hehe, nerd. I dragged him back to our desk, placing the worksheet in front of him. "It's beauty sleep, Emma. So maybe I can be as pretty as the cheerleaders." She gasped lightly, her emerald eyes sparkling mischievously. "You're so cute y/n! Youngsters in love are always so adorable." I chuckled softly, sliding my chair closer the desk. "How about you, Norman? Any girl you like?" The white haired boy tapped his chin thoughtfully. Emma's excited expression mirrored that of a little puppy waiting for a treat. Yeah, people in love are pretty cute. Emma's glowing skin and glistening eyes were disturbed by a very plain "Nope." Norman replied, pulling out a blue pen. "I've never really thought about dating girls." "D- Dating girls?" Emma whispered, her heart obviously broken. She had slammed her head onto the desk, some startled students glancing at her oddly. I caught Ray's confused glare from the corner of my eye, making me giggle. She weakly pointed a finger at him, her panicked voice saying, "Th- Then Norman- Don't tell me y-you're gay-" "No! No! Absolutely not!" He immediately shouted out, blushing harshly. "I just- I just never thought about anyone like that, boy or girl." Embarrassed Norman and in-love Emma were adorable. I smirked, patting both their shoulders. "Okay, let's get to work, dummies."
"So burn wounds... Would I use ulceo or unda?" Emma tapped her pen on a sheet of lined parchment. Writing a simple report should've been easy, but the classes' rowdiness was getting to me. I just wanted to mess around too! Don and Nat were hosting a game of Uno on the opposite side of the room. Someone would shout that damn word every two seconds and then break into an argument. Ray, whos table was next to the troublemakers, looked very agitated and annoyed. "Hey stupid!" I shouted, waving at him. He gave me a cold glare, as if the band of card game players weren't enough trouble. He mouthed an exasperated "what?" I smiled softly, trying to be as friendly as possible. "Sit with us!" I tilted my head to the chaotic group, the black haired boy sighing deeply. He picked up his stuff and dragged himself to my left. "Only because they're loud. And only because I want to make sure you're doing your work." I nudged his shoulder, glancing at his empty paper. "I could say the same for you, idiot. You haven't written anything." An embarrassed blush just barely tinged his cheeks pink. "Hydro is... More difficult than I thought it would be." He sat down grumpily, refusing to meet my gaze. He was helping me with pyro, so it would only be fair if I tried to help him with hydro, right? I leaned over his shoulder, examining his case. It was a case of a man being paralyzed after being shocked with white lightning. "Oh." I whispered, pulling myself back. He tapped at the corner of my own report, which was half done. "What'd you write about? Something easy?" I smirked, passing him my case. "Burns." I replied. "And healing a paralyze is a level two hydro spell. It would be a libero." The black haired boy raised his eyebrow skeptically. "How do you know?" Is this my moment to flex my hydro knowledge? Hoho, here you go, Ray. "Ah, paralyze is a result of your spine being injured and therefore locking your joints and muscles. You have to use a libero to unlock or 'liberate' the frozen joints to heal the paralyze." He nodded his head slowly, giving me the look that he wasn't very convinced. "I guess I'll... read up on that."
Did yesterday even happen? That moment where he comforted me and told me he was sorry? Because the Ray in front of me right now was ignorant, annoying, and didn't take any help from anyone else. I rolled my eyes and went back to my work. Well, whatever. It's not like yesterday meant we were magically friends again or anything.
