Life support. The word struck through Dianna like lightening striking through the sky. It felt like her knees have gone weak and it felt like her lungs were closing in. Her heart had dropped to the pit of her stomach.

"Ma'am?" The doctor asked, concern written on his face.

"What?" She breathed out, her hands slowly beginning to shake. She couldn't think right.

"I said," He started again. "We're going to have to put your daughter, Demi, on life support since she's no longer able to breathe on her own. She's getting weaker and her lungs aren't able to inhale oxygen like they normally would. I'm wishing her and your family the best of luck."

No. She thought Demi was getting better, she thought she was going to be able to come back home and go back to her normal life. She'd be able to see her happy self again. Her little ray of sunshine was turning into darkness and clouds.

"The nurses will be putting her on it very soon, you're allowing this, correct? We need your authority to do so."

If she didn't put Demi on it, she'd lose her. She wouldn't be able to breathe and she'd slowly die.

"Y-Yeah, absolutely."

"Alright then. I'll you and your family some time to grab all your stuff out of her room. You're going to have to wait out in here while the nuses do what the need to do. Once again, I'm sorry about this."

The male smiled at her before turning and walking down the long narrow hallways. She sucked in a deep breath. All she had to do was hope. Hope that her little girl was going to get better.

But now, she's going to have to go back into the room and tell everyone exactly what the doctor said. How was she suppose to say it?

She promised herself she wasn't going to cry. At least not yet. She needs to stay strong. For Demi. And for everyone.

She found herself turning the door knob and slowly pushing open the door. There she was met with concerned faces just staring at her, waiting for an answer.

"What'd the doctor say?" Eddie spoke, his eyebrows knitting together at Dianna's expression. She looked sad, extremely sad. It looked like she had no life left in her.

Everyone waited for an answer while Dianna quickly thought about what she was going to say.

"She can't breathe on her own anymore," the promise that she made to herself not to cry broke. Tears were already rushing down her cheeks. "They're putting her on life support."

Everyone's face fell was sadness. Maddie immediately bursted into tears, her hands covering her hands and she silently cried into them.

Marissa stood up from the chair she was sat on and pushed past everyone, opening the door and roughly slamming it behind her.

Dallas wrapped her arms around Madison as she let her cry into her.

Eddie made his way across the room and sat next to Maddie, in a way to let her know that he was there for her. That they were all in this together.

"Hey, Dallas, can you go check on Marissa?"

She nodded, leaving Maddie's side and exiting the room.

Marissa's face was rested in her knees while silent cries left her body.

"Hey, Mar?" Dallas asked, sitting against the wall with her friend. "You okay?"

Dallas didn't want to cry. She wanted to stay positive.

"What do you think, Dall? Your sister is being put on life support; my best friend. Do you think I'm okay? How the fuck are you not crying your eyes out?"
