"Fine."
The Slytherin common room was derelict when we got there. There were a few first years still lingering, but they were just sat around a table, playing wizards chess. On the way to the Gryffindor Tower, we had no run ins with Filch which was fortunate.
"Shit..." I murmured as we approached the Fat Lady's portrait, which was closed.
"Password?" Asked the Fat Lady.
I looked helplessly at Draco.
"Fortuna Major," said a voice behind us.
"Alright, go in." Just like that, the portrait swung forward and lead into a tunnel. We both watched as the sixth year Hufflepuff behind us entered, so we followed him inside. The tunnel opened up into the common room, which was bigger than I had anticipated.
Red, neon lights lit the room, and the walls vibrated from the bass of the music playing. "Oh yeah!" Fred and George beamed, noticing our arrival.
"Evening, lovebirds." George teased. "What's on your menu for tonight?"
"There's empty bedrooms upstairs to your right," Fred grinned.
"Or a kid over there selling opiates." George gestured over his shoulder to a kid in a far corner.
"Perhaps we could interest you with a drink?" Fred said, pointing to the makeshift bar. "Or a cigarette." George pulled a pack out of his back pocket.
"Wow, that was... a lot." I laughed. "A drink, it is."
"Good choice," Fred said, while George pressed a cigarette between his lips and lit it. Draco followed me to the makeshift bar, but that wasn't the surprising thing. The surprising thing was that Oliver Wood was behind it, despite the fact he graduated a year ago.
"Ollie always visits when there's a party on." George explained based on the look I held. "After all, he's a full blown Quidditch player now. He needs that break." Fred added.
"Of course," Oliver said, sliding a glass of Firewhiskey towards me. "Thanks, Oliver." I smiled, feeling the condensation from the glass wet my palms. "By the way, Fred." I turned to the twin nearest me. "Have you seen Pansy yet? Parkinson."
Fred shrugged. "There's hundreds of people here. I can't keep track of everyone who shows up."
"Right..."
"Well, we'll leave you to it." George clapped my shoulder before Fred and himself disappeared into the crowd. "So, your first Gryffindor party." I turned around to Draco, who'd ordered himself straight whiskey. "How exciting."
"We do it better." Draco said, glancing around. Fred and George had found Lee Jordan, and they all sat around a Potions book, taking turns in doing lines. A couple others were nearby, passing around a lighter and smoking.
"Y/N!"
Pansy Parkinson appeared on the other side of me. "You're here! Come on, you owe me a dance."
"A dance?" I laughed as she took me by the wrist. "I thought you owed me a drink?"
"Looks like you've already got one, now come on." Pansy said, taking my drink from my hand. She passed it to Draco who took it with narrowed eyes. Then, before either of us could protest, Pansy dragged me onto the dance floor.
I laughed as Pansy turned me around, so we were dancing with our backs against one another. Someone amidst the crowd wolf-whistled, so I tilted my head onto Pansy's shoulder and lifted my middle finger.
"Look at you go," Pansy giggled.
The bass of the music vibrated through my feet. All of the sudden, my head was lifted from Pansys shoulder and I felt a cool breeze on my back. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Blaise Zabini had took her away, and they were now talking and dancing.
So, with an opportunity in sight, a cold hand grabbed my waist and pulled me in. "Long time no see," Draco whispered teasingly into my ear. The heat of his breath tickled the side of my neck, so I grabbed the hand that was on my waist and giggled.
"Can't stay away for more than a minute, can you?"
"Nope." Draco smirked. He tried to peck my cheek, but I turned my head away, teasing him. He tightened the grip he held around my waist, but again I moved my head. "You tease," he chuckled darkly.
"That I am." I grinned up at him. "Gonna do something about it?"
"Maybe." He said, this time leaning in fast enough to capture my lips with his. I closed my eyes and allowed him to have the one, but again, I teasingly pulled back. "Gonna have to do better than that, Mr Malfoy."
"Oh, just you wait." He spoke, a dark look in his eyes.
"Evening, ladies." A voice teased. We both looked away from each other and turned to see Theodore Nott approaching us, a lighter in hand. "Do I look—," Draco tried to retort, but Theo already cut him off with a; "Yes."
I hid a laugh behind my hand.
"You want a hit, Y/N?" Theo asked, extending the cigarette he'd pulled from his back pocket. "Okay," I shrugged, reaching for it, but right as I was about to take it between my fingers.
SMACK!
Theo held the side of his face, the cigarette now on the floor. "Don't make her play with that shit, man." Draco scowled. Theo appeared to be in slight shock, "Come on, Draco. Lighten up." He said, "She's a big girl, she can handle it."
Draco slowly shook his head.
"Alrigh', alrigh'." Theo raised one hand in retreat, while he pulled another cigarette out for himself. He pressed it in between his lips and brought the lighter to it. Draco stared at him as he took a drag and slowly backed away.
"Did you really have to do that?" I asked quietly.
"I don't want you trying none of that." Draco grabbed my arm and pulled me away from the crowd. "Nicotine, it's addictive. You try it once and the next thing you know you can't stop."
"Okay..."
For the rest of the party, we were back and forth to the bar. At some point, I could feel myself getting tipsy. The room started to twist and turn from side to side and the music sounded like a buzz in the back of my mind. Here and then I'd have little laughing fits, and at others I'd have to press my hand against a surface to stop myself from stumbling over my own feet.
"You need to get to bed, sweetheart." Draco said, appearing both amused and worried. I was slumped over in a stool with my head on the bar. "Nu-uh," I mumbled, drawing circles into the wood.
Draco rolled his eyes and lifted me off the stool. I stumbled around to face him and instinctively extended my arms. He placed my hands on his shoulders and picked me up. "I like your hair," I giggled mindlessly.
He pulled his head back a little, but I still managed to grab a strand of the soft, ice-blond hair between my fingers. I tugged on it like a kid, what made him laugh and gently take my hand away.
"Noo," He shook his head, placing my hand back on his shoulder. "You just shut your eyes, I'm taking you to bed."
"Okay..." I mumbled, leaning forward to press my head against his shoulder. "Night night...."
