his head was laid in regs lap as they sat under the tree after classes during late november. the two had agreed to give the library a break and get some fresh air before the weather turn too cold

regulus was reading the book james gave him out loud. james stared up at him just watching his face as he quietly read the book to them. they were nearly finished with it and it wasnt long until regulus closed the book

"the end," regulus stated closing the book and looking down at the curly haired boy laying in his lap

"already?" james asked in a whiny tone as his eyes met regs. he liked hearing regs gentle voice read to him

reg chuckled, "its been two hours."

"blimey, really?" james gasped

"you have no concept of time do you?" reg joked twisting james's hair around his finger

james smiled at regs touch, "apparently not."

james watched as regulus smiled down at him still leaning against the tree as he ran his hands through his hair. regs smile quickly became his favorite. he liked it because it was a rare sight but around him reg seemed to do it often

he took a lot of pride in being able to make reg smile despite his attempts to appear cold hearted

"reg?"

"yea?"

"remus told me about this muggle holiday," james told reg

regulus looked down at him, "yea?"

"its called thanksgiving. families and friends get together to eat turkey of all things. plus plenty of other foods. the whole point of the holiday is to eat an obnoxious amount of food and just be thankful."

"muggles really are boring," reglus chuckled. "thats the best they could come up with."

"oh common," james protested. "its sweet, don't you think?"

"please dont-" reg started but was cut off

"what are you thankful for?" james asked curiously with a wide grin

"well you," regulus smiled. "geez uh sirius for sure. id be beaten and bruised without him. magic god im thankful for that. and books duh."

"thats all?" james asked surprised at how short his list was

he nodded "yea, what about you?"

james grinned, "im most thankful for you. but im also thankful for my parents and them being so willing to take sirius in, remus and peter they're the best, oddly enough i feel extremely grateful for professor mcgonagall. oh and quidditch how could i forget."

regulus smiled at james. his life was so simple. reg thought there was an unseen beauty in simplicity. he wished his life was as simple as pranks and quidditch. he still knew that james's life wasnt always so simple

"we should have a friendsgiving!" james exclaimed sitting up

"a what?"

"a friendsgiving. we all bring a food or a drink and just hangout," he explained. "we can have it in the room of requirement!"

"james i dont know about.." reg trailed off

"itll just be a small group, i promise. nothing big just you me the marauders, possible the girls and anyone you want to bring," james still pleading

reg sighed, "love i dont think.."

"can we do it?" james begged making a pouty face he knew reg could resist. "i want you to meet my friends, you'd really love remus."
