"Luke, are you trying to say you want to live together?" Julie smiled up at him.
"Yeah." He nodded and let out a nervous chuckle.
"I would love to!" Julie hopped up and threw her arms around his neck, engulfing him in a tight hug. "I love you, Luke."
"I love you too, Julie."
Luke did a good job of hiding just how excited he was. Well, for the most part. But best believe when he left to go back to his and Reggie's shared apartment, he couldn't shut up about it.
"Where do you think we'll live? I mean Julie's already got her own place, but it's small and it's not ours, you know?" Luke spoke eagerly as Reggie made them dinner that night. "Do you think Jules and I should look for a new place?"
"That could be good." Reggie gave Luke a look he couldn't quite read.
"What?"
Reggie chuckled, "Nothing, it's just, does Julie know you want to marry her?"
Luke's eyes bulged, "Huh? I-I don't know what you're talking about."
"Yeah, right. So I guess I just imagined that song in your journal?"
"Reggie! I told you to stop going through there! Julie's the only one who's aloud to do that."
"Well you were being suspicious about showing us new songs and that never happens!" Reggie held up his hands in defense and then his face turned into a smirk, "Now I know why, though."
Luke fell silent and started playing with his hands, a clear sign he was nervous.
"Luke, you always do this." Reggie huffed before leaning on the counter. "You did it right before you and Julie got together and you're doing it now. You're scared to admit your feelings because you're scared she won't feel the same way. Which I do not see happening, by the the way."
"You're right," Luke admitted, "I'm scared to lose her."
"See? Now you can accept those fears and deal with them." Reggie grinned.
"Speaking of fears and accepting, I'm not the only one whose been scared about things in the love department." Luke crossed his arms.
"Huh?" Reggie's eyes widened.
"You and Kayla, Reginald." Luke shook his head. "Just ask her out already! You've both been dancing around the idea for forever."
Reggie ran a hand through his hair, "Yeah you're right. I just. . ."
"What's holding you back, bro? You're always willing to take a chance with the ladies."
"I think I'm still hung up on Flynn, okay?" Reggie blurted out causing Luke's eyes to widen.
"Uhm," Luke cleared his throat, "I wasn't expecting that."
"Well, we never lost touch. We just decided it was best to be friends because we thought that was for the best, being long distance and all. A-And I swear I thought I really liked Kayla, and maybe I still do! But then. . ."
"But then. . ." Luke urged him to continue.
"There was, uh, a slip up." Reggie looked away from Luke so he wouldn't have to make eye contact with him.
"A slip up?"
"Yeah. That first time she visited from Paris the first year we were in New York? We had that party for her, remember?"
Luke nodded as he remembered how excited Julie was to see Flynn. She hadn't stopped talking and obsessing over how perfect everything had to be. Luke had to suffer through many excruciating shopping trips, but it paid off because Julie looked stunning that night.
"It started then."
"It 'started' then?" Luke groaned, face palming at his friend's decisions. "Meaning it hasn't ended."
"She saw me dancing with Kayla and got jealous! I brought her to the bathroom so we could talk in private and work things out, but then-"
"Okay, please don't go into detail." Luke held his hand up.
Reggie scratched the back of his head, "It's not just when she visits here, though. Whenever we're in Europe on tour-"
"So that's why you always disappear right after that specific show! I just thought you had an obsession with the French girls."
Reggie nodded, waiting for Luke to tell him off for being dumb like Alex probably would. However, the lecture never came.
"Look, Reg, if you still love her then great. I'm happy for you. But if you think you might have actual feelings for Kayla, don't keep hooking up with your ex, okay? It will just confuse you even more and it will not end well, trust me."
Reggie was deep in this thoughts, but he still nodded at what Luke said to him. Suddenly the smoke alarms started going off and the smell of burnt bread filled Luke's nostrils.
"Ah, shit!" Reggie rushed over to the stove to take the pan off the eye, "I burnt the grilled cheese!"
Luke sat there, hunched over in a fit of laughter as Reggie tried to jump in a panicked manner and fan the smoke detector.
"Well don't just sit there!" The bassist exclaimed.
Luke was still giggling as he went over to open a few windows.
"I guess we're ordering take out again."
*~*~*
Julie received a FaceTime call from Flynn not long after Luke left her apartment and immediately answered. She had been dying to tell Flynn the news all day and was just about to call her. Even from Paris Flynn was telepathically connected to Julie.
"Hey, girl! I was just about to call you!" Julie smiled at Flynn through the screen. "I have some news to break."
"I have some news for you too! Oh my god, we're so connected it's scary." Flynn was smiling just as wide. "You go first."
"Okay," Julie clapped her hands together, "Luke and I are moving in together!"
Flynn squealed on the other end, "Oh, my goodness! That's great, Jules! I'm so happy for you."
"I know!" Julie covered her mouth, trying to hide her large grin.
Flynn wiped away fake tears causing Julie to giggle, "I'm getting so emotional. I just remember where you started and now? You're all grown up."
"So what about you? What did you have to tell me?"
Flynn paused for dramatic effect before screaming, "I GOT THE JOB!!!"
Julie gasped, "The one that a million girls wanted?!"
Flynn nodded vigorously, "I'm moving to New York, baby!"
