Cassie- "I pushed him to cause a distraction!"

Start from the beginning

"I hate maths" I leant against the lockers as Maddy pulled her book out for the final class of the day. Kat had already gone to class and BB had ditched after lunch leaving just me, Maddy and Cassie. The blonde stood on the other side of the corridor, my gaze met hers, I smiled and she looked done. I looked at Maddy who didn't seem to have caught the interaction.
"I think maths hates you" Maddy laughed as I turned my head to look at her, she slowly closed her locker.
"What does that even mean?" I responded with a laugh. Before Maddy could respond another voice interrupted us.
"y/n?" I turned to see Hailey making her way towards me. Hailey was a sweet, smart, level headed girl. She had black hair that matched her almost black eyes, she was pretty but nothing compared to Cassie. She was in the year above me and was also the girl I had the disaster date with.
"Hailey" I couldn't help but feel awkward in the girls gaze, I could feel my cheeks start to warm the closer she got to me and my friends.
"I was hoping to see you" She smiled, like I said she was pretty, she would make anyone melt with that smile but I couldn't help but compare her to the girl that was just stood my right leaning against the locker watching the whole ordeal. Cassie was the opposite of her, blonde, blue eyes that you couldn't help but fall in love with.
"You were" I finally found my voice again, my cheek redding even though you'd think it wasn't possible.
"Yeah of course I was. You said you'd message me and you didn't" I did but I didn't think she'd want to hear from me after the date since most of it was my fault.
"I thought you wouldn't want to hear from me especially with how the date went" I looked down at the ground then back up messing with the book in my hand. I watched as the girl smiled again letting out a small laugh while brushing a strand of her black hair out of her face.
"Everyone has had those types of dates before but I still had a good time. I really enjoyed spending time with you" I didn't know what to say, a small panic rising inside me. Not just out of nerves but also because I felt guilty, was I just using Hailey to get over Cassie? You can't go into a relationship like that, can you? "I was wondering if you wanted to do it again sometime, hopefully not as much of a disaster" Hailey spoke before I could. I couldn't help but look back at Maddy out of shock, she seemed to be in as much disbelief as I was. Maddy then glanced at Cassie who was staring at the floor like it was more important than me getting a second date with Hailey. I turned back to the girl just nodding my head not trusting my voice. "Okay, I'll message you the details" She smiled obviously excited, more excited than me but I hope that wasn't obvious or that maybe she thinks I'm just playing hard to get. I watched as Hailey walked down the corridor and towards her friends who smiled at her and walked to their classes.
"Can you believe that?" I turned to look at the two girls Maddy still stood in disbelief.
"No, I mean wow" Maddy glanced at Cassie then back to me. I turned to Cassie who was still staring at the floor biting the inside of her cheek. What is wrong with her?
"Where are you guys meant to be?" A teacher stood at the opposite end of the corridor looking down at the three of us.
"Maths class" I answered as the guy crossed his arms.
"Well, you better get going. You're going to be late." I just rolled my eyes.
"Yeah we are" Maddy shot back walking forward, I followed then Cassie who didn't seem interested in speaking to either of us.

I walked into Maths Class and took a seat next to Kat. Her work already open in front of her. Maddy and Cassie sat not far from us, I could help but notice how pissed off and upset Cassie seemed. Just because she broke up with McKay doesn't mean the rest of us have to stop dating. I opened my book the feeling of annoyance building up in me.
"What's up with Cassie" Kat nudged me as I flipped through the pages getting to the correct page. I just shrugged, if what I thought was the problem she needed to grow up. "What took you guys so long? I thought you were just getting a book from Maddy's locker" Kat changed the subject.
"Hailey asked me out on a second date" A smile crossed Kat's face. This was the response I had wanted out of Maddy and Cassie, I wanted them to be happy for me rather than be in disbelief or just not care at all.
"That's amazing after everything" I smiled not being able to respond because the teacher had started to speak again.
