In a classroom. There was a teacher standing in front of a large wall, that had several flashing images and art on it that was constantly changing.
"In the beginning, there was darkness, a shapeless shadow that was everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. From that darkness, fire emerged, and created light. The two were opposing forces and hated each other, so they fought, and fought, for an unknown amount of time, until eventually their clash created something new, magic."
"Now Magic was a neutral force, that was not on either side, it only aided both to amuse itself. Until eventually it resulted in an explosion, of vast energies and forces that breathed life into our universe."
"The two primal forces settled down and lay in wait, deciding to rule over the new creatures that had emerged. Four kingdoms emerged from that great clash, the Kingdom of the Demons, the Seraphim, the Beasts, and Man. Darkness took the Demons and Beasts, while Light took Man and Seraphim. It was through their respective kingdoms that their fights would continue. Perhaps, the descendant of one of our greatest champions would like to share a story of how humanity triumphed?" The professor asked, while looking to the back of the classroom.
There in a desk laid a sleeping teenager, with a sheathed Katana at his side, he had bright crimson hair, and strong arms. The guy beside him shook him awake.
"Wha- oh come on I told you to wake me before the good part!?" He said.
"Sorry."
"Eh whatever. What part are we- oh, that's where. So, as many of you know, my Great Grandfather single handedly prevented mankind's extinction. During the war, the Demons had created a gigantic beast, one so large it could crush entire cities with the palm of its hands. No weapon or spell that man had produced could harm it, so my ancestor experimented with the Darkness to forge a weapon, this one actually." He said as he held up the Katana. "Alcondaroc. With a great force, he lured the giant into the sea and with the blade, sealed him deep within the centre of the earth, blah blah blah, the day was saved. Anything else teach?"
"Thank you Pyro, and no, you may go back to your desk." He said.
After class.
First Person POV.
I was walking out of class with my best friend. He's a skinny kid with dark hair who specializes in gravity magic.
"Dude I don't get you, I would've thought you of all people would respect our people's history." Jinai said.
"History to you, bedtime stories since I was 4 to me." I said. "Look we've been training our whole lives for when that thing eventually resurfaces. We've been forced to hide out here on this stupid island away from anywhere else. There's only so much that training can prepare us for."
We headed back to our dorm room. We've been planning an escape off the island for months now. Tonight is the night we pull it off.
"So, the past few weeks we've been railing guards, paying attention to patrol routes, and mapping out the escape. All we have to do is follow the plan, and we'll be fine." I said.
Later that evening.
Jinai and I snuck out the dorm window and into the bushes below. This is the courtyard all the older students go to sneak out and hook up. Tonight's supposed to be their annual big get together. Their end of year party. A little illusion magic here and there, and we can pass by completely undetected.
We snuck past the small fire pit they've got and headed through the courtyard. Eventually we reached a balcony overlooking the west side of the island. There's a jungle beneath us.
