Soon, his mother stood up and left the room.

The boy, whom I assumed was Ned, sat at the foot of my bed and looked at me.

I looked back at him and don't know how long passed until he spoke.

"When I saw you drop from the cliff, I just wanted to save you. You probably didn't want to live, but I didn't want you to die either," he said, this time in a sad tone.

When the silence was getting deafening, I spoke.

"What happened?"

"I was four when my dad and I climbed up the same cliff that you jumped from. That's the highest cliff around here, and the first time I saw my village from atop,"  he faintly smiled as he traced the lines on the sheets.

"It was all thrilling until it all went wrong,"  he said, looking at me with eyes full of tears.
