 So like my teacher was like write about something you were forced to wear and my brain immediately went to feeling like I have to wear dresses and then it went to frat boy harry feeling like he couldn't wear dresses and then I wrote a poem in like 5 minutes so it's shit but like genuine shit. I could rant about this forever but this is all I wrote in the 5 minutes. I have much more to say about this and I wanted this to be deep and metaphorical but it's really just a word bleh. 



Our society genders everything,

The songs you listen to and the people that sing

his/hers on every product, random things in blue and pink,

From the moment we are born we are supposed to think

That there is a line between boys and girls and that they is only plural

Boys vs girls in gym class, he wears sweats she wears florals,

Every activity, every hobby branded

Every unique personality and expression is stranded

On a lonely island in which he can confidently wear a dress,

A place where he can cry and his emotions can be expressed,

In a place where she doesn't need to keep her head bowed

Where she doesn't need to apologize for talking too loud,

Where he isn't forced into pants when he likes a skirt so much more,

Where he doesn't feel bad about the thing he adores,

Where she can be powerful and still be considered feminine,

Where her words, actions, and attire can actually be genuine,

A place where their pronouns are accepted and used,

A place where trans lives matter too,

Where people understand that sex is different than gender,

Imagine this place's beauty, its love, its splendor,

Where no one is forced into clothing they hated,

In which all pronouns and sexualities are valid and appreciated,

Where love thy neighbor includes those hanging a pride flag,

And no one is kicked out, closeted, bullied, or called a
