Whether it's your first day of elementary school, middle school, or heck - maybe even your first day of your senior year, nothing tops the nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach.

Especially when you start as a new kid in the middle of the semester as a freshman.

I mean, nothing's better than being known as "that new freshman girl".

What can I say though, my first day wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

When I walked into the house, the smell of burning creme brûlée candles lingered around the house.

I loved that smell.

I just always feel at home when I smell those candles, even if I'm in a random store and I smell it.

I sat down on the couch and switched the channels for what seemed like a million times, so I just turned it off.

I went into the kitchen to get a snack, but a note was taped to the fridge.

It read:

'Jacey, if we're not back by the time you get home don't eat anything yet. We're having dinner with the Akridge's tonight. Get ready. Love, mom'

I ran upstairs to picked out an outfit.

"Akridge... Akridge.... Where have I heard that name..." I whispered.
