in november of 2020, glowit's weiyang was reported to be taking a temporary break due to health issues.
two months after glowit debuted, jyp entertainment announced that weiyang would be putting her schedule and activities on hold as she focused on recovering from health issues.
weiyang's parents have said that she's always had issues with her back, and during dimension: odyssey promotions, she had suffered severe back pain and muscle strain with her intercostal muscles. the strain of her intercostal muscles had affected her breathing ability. it had gotten to the point where weiyang was having trouble doing basics tasks, as it all required the used of her back.
jyp entertainment made an announcement, stating that weiyang would be needing surgery, and would likely be out for several months. there is currently no estimate on when she will be able to resume her activities with glowit.
weiyang later made her own statement, regarding her break:
❝ gleamit's, i want to ask that none of you worry about me, as i will be fine. i will return stronger and better than before. i love you all, and i'll miss you. please be good to the other members. even if we're not all together, they'll still shine and do great things. please take care of yourselves and don't end up like me ❞
