The human race has always been good at self sabotage.
Where else did you have to look but in the bloody pages of history to see the proof. War after war, sickness after sickness, the rise and fall of monarchies and governments, slavery, sexism, racial injustice . No matter how deep, or festering, humanity just kept picking at it's self-inflicted wound- barely giving it time to scab before the need to see blood set in again.
The very year everything went to shit humanity was teetering on the brink of all out war. With the worsening condition of the planet; the growing scarcity of food, contamination of water and the continued spread of disease, conflict seemed to be the only natural course of direction the human race could take. Countries turning on countries, each snarling and foaming at the mouth like rabid dogs as the madness set in, each eager to find a scapegoat solely to blame for the predicament the world had found itself in.
When we were at our lowest they decided to reveal themselves- and the world as we knew it changed forever. On January 1, 2021, vampires made their existence known; troops of white clad soldiers showing up in major cities all over as the world watched, the violent turmoil that had been on the edge of boiling over paused as everyone waited to see who these mysterious beings were.
They had stood unmoving for two days; the hood of their cloaks drawn over their heads even as dawn broke and sunlight glinted off rows of polished black boots, and gold insignias that adorned the troops' pristine uniforms, even as they were surrounded by countless media outlets and squadrons of police. On the third day we all learned who's arrival they had been awaiting- the arrival of their Queen.

January 4, 2021, in the middle of times square barricaded by hundreds of her warriors the queen of vampires made her proclamation.
