“Smile.”

*

"I don't know... I feel like something is gonna happen really bad." You spoke, fidgeting your fingers, clasping them together in dread.

You stared at the ceiling painted in bland white, almost resembling a hospital but also not, at the same time.

It really creeps you out on how tense your body is this day. It's like feeling something so bad that it's instinctively preparing a jumpscare, more or less.

In your peripheral vision, you see the person listening, nodding her head in response while jotting down to her clipboard. "And how does that make you feel?" She questions.

"I told you already! It's weirding me out." You rubbed your cheeks together, mumbling to her repeated words.

"It is also a question, but I think it's paranoia kicking in." She spoke, standing up.

You glanced at her appearance, a stoic yet pretty face. Ash-blonde hair tied in a low ponytail, and dark blue bell eyes.

"Here. I think you're skipping the dates where you should be drinking the pills." She said, handing you a familiar white little bottle. You sighed and only took the bottle, putting it away in your jacket.

You don't want to reminded that you are sick, everytime you see things that reminds you of it and there's plentiful.

Standing up, you walked out the door as you hear your family doctor bid goodbye. "I'll see you soon."

You stopped, looking slightly back at the closed door with her last name on front. With reluctant eyes, you bid your goodbye silently. "Bye, Ms. Green.."

You stride through the snowy ground, feeling the cold wind slapping your face, chilling your body. Nonetheless, you enjoy the beautiful view.

You remember that you also have to buy a new manga. You walked more faster, as you feel the wind grew harsher. Passing by to a small cafe, you decided to purchase a small drink to warm yourself.

Browsing through the menu, you picked your order. "I'll have the sliced piece of chocolate cake and a medium size of hot choco."

"Coming right up!" The voice responds merrily, you glanced at the girl who spoke and you were in awe at her cute face.

You feel the slight vibration from your pocket, taking your attention away from the girl. Fishing out your phone, you see the contact as 'Big Bro 3'. Your once quiet response turned 180 degree.

"Hello?"

"Where are you?" The boy asked from the other side of the phone.

"Why? I'm outside. I bought something." You simply replied, not forgetting to change your tone into more preppier.

"Did you know that it's snowing outside? What if you got too cold? [name], you know you have a weak body. Don't force yourself, you should have asked me to drive you there." He said worriedly. Smiling to yourself on how your brother turn to worry about you so much, it warms your heart.

You see your order being brought to you. Nodding to the girl, you took out a hundred bill and giving it to her. The girl smiles cheerily and prepares the amount of change. "No, no. Keep it." You whispered, giggling at her widened eyes before turning away.

Your mind is now focused on your brother's worried voice. "Hey, hey." You shake your head, smiling while drinking your hot chocolate away. "Sam, I'm fine. I'm drinking hot chocolate right now, so I'm warmer..? I'm fine really and I don't want to bother you with Eli, it's your third anniversary so I want you to spend more time with her. You better make Eli happy or I'm gonna punch you." You threateningly said, but only heard chuckles on the other side.

"Okay, okay and we both know that you can't actually punch me." He said.

"Whatever. So how's Luca and Brix?" You asked, sipping from the cup.

"Same old, Same old. They're still working but still visits us." Sam said, almost had a tone of nostalgia.

Looking through the hazy sky, it really feels so nostalgic just by mentioning their names. It's been a while since they relaxed and hanged out as family but it was a long time ago.

Sam continued to talk until you were near the manga store. He bid farewell, as you return his goodbye.

You enter the store filled with different collections of Japanese manga. Your eyes scrolled to the various types of books and finally spotting the one your looking for.

Like a small birthday girl, you carefully observed the plastic-wrapped book and it's cover, making you brighten even more.

You walked towards the cashier, paying for the book. Your body stops Infront of the pedestrian lane, watching as the stoplight turns yellow to red. You sighed and scrolled to your phone, gasping when you forgot something.

Texting your other brother, that you met the perfect for him and the location. Turning it off then on, remembering to type to him that don't be a creep and watch her work. You laughed at your own message.

A sharp noise echoes through the street, gaining your attention. You see a truck swerving through the road, in your peripheral vision, you see a person smaller than yourself crossing the road, as if not hearing the honks.

You were washed with horrors just by imagining what could happen next. Everything turns slower in your vision. The truck, the kid, you.

No.

No.

Your body moved, dropping some of your items your bought. The hot chocolate slowly pouring out as the cake falls to the ground.

No..

No... I don't want to..

You can see your hand stretching out towards the kid Infront of you. Giving him a harsh push forwards as you slowly lose your own balance, slowly meeting the floor as the noise became louder and clearer.

...I don't want to die!

You gaze at the gray sky as more snow flakes poured to earth from heaven. You slowly blinked, gaining more sleepy each time you spot the snow. You couldn't hear anything, like you were deaf. You can see in your peripheral vision that figures were rushing left to right but you can't see them clearly.

What happened? You don't know, should you care? You don't know.

You felt something sticky around you like a warm goo of sort, almost forming a small puddle around your body as you slowly drifted away. Everything was silent but you didn't care.

"...just smile, [name]."

And so you did.
