REMY POV
I groaned loudly as I got out of bed. Looking to my right, I saw my husband, Linguini, fast asleep. Smiling to myself, I ventured downstairs to prepare breakfast for my beautiful little family.
As soon as the smell of fresh bacon reached his nose, Linguini ran downstairs like a little bitch. He kissed me good morning and as I deepened the kiss, our daughter Colette burst into the kitchen.
"GROSS DADS STOP!"
We stopped.
I smiled to myself, remembering the day my baby was born. It was a very long labour and I felt as if my insides were about to explode. Just as I was about to give up on life, I heard her cry.
LINGUINI POV
I looked at my beautiful Colette, thinking about the day I first saw her. Right there, fresh out of Remy, was my entire world.
I vividly remember the argument we had that day:
flashback
“we’re not naming our child after your dead ex girlfriend!”
remy’s normally gentle brown eyes turned dark and flashed with anger. the vase my mother got as our wedding gift lay shattered on the floor as a mark of his anger.
“why not?” i demanded, my own blood boiling. “she sacrificed herself for me and it’s the least i can do. i wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for her!”
remy sighed and years of worry from running the restaurant with me seemed glaring clear on his face. i could see the fighting going out of him and his shoulders slumped as he conceded. “fine you win.” he said.
“we’ll name her colette.”
end of flashback
I quickly wolfed down my breakfast and put on shoes.
"Hurry up Colette, we're going to be late for school!"
"Bye Mom, coming Daddy!"
She put on her shoes and followed me out of the front door and into our car. I began to drive, mentally preparing myself for the day ahead.
