University

After taking out all the bandits, we walked out to the horses.
Ellie poked my shoulder and I turned around.
"Can you get on my horse with me?" She looked as if she were to burst into tears.
"Of course, El."
I got on the horse and helped her up behind me.

We rode the horses following Tommy, taking in the atmosphere.

There was a city, with a bunch of lights on.
"Here it is. Jackson." Tommy motioned to the city.
"Kids'll be watching a movie tonight" Tommy looked at Ellie and I.
"Hey so where is this lab of theirs?" Joel asked Tommy.
"University of Eastern Colorado."
Joel chuckled.
"Go big horns." I didn't understand what that meant but it got Tommy to chuckle too.
"How will I find it?"
"It's in the science building, it looks like a big mirror you can't miss it.
Joel turned to us.
"You guys ready for a trip?"
I immediately felt Ellie's head come off from my shoulder as I could tell she knew what was happening.
"What're you doing?" Tommy looked at us and then Joel.
"Well, youre wife kinda scares me, and I don't want her running after me."
"Well come back to town we can discuss it at least."
"Nah. You know me baby brother, my minds all made up. Take care of that wife of yours." Tommy nodded and as we made eye contact he nodded again.

We turned around our horses as I felt Ellie get closer to me and wrap her arms around me tighter.
"I'm sorry for leaving Logan."
"It's okay El, just glad you're safe."

We started making our what to the University of Eastern Colorado.

--Time Skip--

"So, this is what I've gathered so far. You go to school even after you're all grown up, and you have to pay for it?"
"Yeah sounds about right."
I looked Joel baffled
"That makes absolutely no sense."
Ellie giggled.
"It was a different world Logan."
"I couldn't imagine living in that world."

A bunch of monkeys ran in front of us.
"Holy shit, Ellie look!" I pointed to all the monkeys.
"Wow"
We were both dumbfounded by seeing monkeys.
Joel turned to us.
"First time seeing a monkey?"
"First time seeing a monkey." I smiled in amazement.
"So, have you seen a mirror looking building yet?" Ellie started getting a little impatient.
"Not yet, El."
"No not yet, maybe they keep a low profile." Joel was trying to see the bright side, can't say I blame him though, this place looks abandoned.
"Hey I was thinking, I would've wanted to become an astronaut" Ellie said to us both.
"Is that so?" Joel sounded surprised.
"How about you?" Ellie asked Joel.
"I would've wanted to become a singer."
"Oh shit no way, I would've been a guitarist. I used to play all the time."Joel chuckled as I said that.
"You should show me your skills one day."
Ellie's grip on me got tighter.
"One day you guys have to play me something."
"Yeah right." Joel and I said in unison.

We found this gate inside a building.
"I'm gonna find a way around. You guys stay here." He got off his horse and walked to a crawl space in the wall.
"You sure you don't want backup?" I looked at Joel.
"No, just stay with the horses."
"Okay." I got off the horse and looked through the gate.
"Hmm"
I heard Ellie get off and walk up to me.
"What're you looking for?"
"I just, i feel like should've seen someone by now."
"Hey, Logan." I turned to see Ellie with her hands behind her back and her eyes to the floor.
"Yeah?"
"So you know how you gave me a wood switchblade?"
"Yeaaah"
"Well i found this butterfly knife i think its called? And I want you to have it."
She then handed me this black and slightly purple butterfly knife.
I couldn't help but smile.
"Holy shit Ellie!" I got so excited
"You like it?" She looked nervous, but I ran and gave her a hug.
"I love it." Then i got an idea.
"Ellie give me your knife." She then handed it to me.
I carved our initials in the side of her switchblade.
"Now, whenever you look at your knife, you'll think of me."
She giggled.
"You're cute." She told me as she had her face scrunched up.

We then heard Joel on the other side of the gate.
"Hey, Logan try the button." I pushed the button and the gate opened.
"Sweet." I said under my breath as we all got back on our horses.

--Time Skip--

We found the science building. As we were making our way through the building it was abandoned.
Joel found a tape recorder next to a skeleton.

"If you're looking for the others, they went back to their hospital in Salt Lake City."

"Do you know where that is?" Ellie looked worried as she asked Joel.
"I know the city, it ain't close. I mean on horseback-"
I saw a light glaring at us.
"Get down!"
I grabbed Joel and Ellie and got them behind the counter, as a bullet went through the window.

We all pulled out our weapons as we cleared the floor we were on.

Going down a floor, and opening a door, Joel got attack by one of the guys attacking us and they fell off of the balcony.
We heard Joel scream in agony.

"Joel?!" I saw how he was on the ground with a metal pole impaled in this right side.
"JOEL!" I got down as fast as I could, and so did Ellie.
"Logan, what do we do?"
Joel started talking weakly.
"M-m..."
"What?"
"Move!" He pushed me out of the way and shot two guys who were coming up behind us.
"Okay, Ellie we gotta pull him up."
We pulled Joel off of the pole and he put his arms around us.

We dragged him through a window, and killed a guy that was in the same room.

We brought him outside, where there was this guy trying to take one of our horses but Ellie shot him.

"Okay we have to make him a sled." I put together some wood and cardboard, and tied it to a horse.
"Here let's lay him down on that."
We put him down, and Ellie and I got on only one horse.
We had to find somewhere to go, but we didn't know where.
