CHAPTER TWENTY THREE

-: fifth year :-

── IN WHICH A BOGGART APPEARS

. . .

Aviana had stalked out of the room, suddenly rather aware of her surroundings and feeling a pang of disappointment she hadn't expected. Leaving Harry in the corner of the kitchen, she walked up the stairs towards her room.

She hadn't bothered to tell people, and nobody knew except Harry. So she had no reason for the disappointment she felt. But it was there.

"Hello?" Aviana asked, stopping in her tracks. The sound of sobbing echoed through the hallway and the Rosier girl followed it to the drawing room, pushing open the door. Mrs Weasley was cowering against the wall, clutching her wand and staring down at a body on the floor.

"Mrs Weasley?" She asked, looking between the woman and the body of her son - but seeing as Ron was downstairs and they were in the drawing room, she quite quickly put two and two together and figured it was a boggart.

Knowing she wasn't the right person to deal with this, Aviana rushed back down the stairs, almost crashing into another person coming up the stairs. "Oh, Aviana perfect, you forgot-" It was Harry, who was digging in his pocket for something.

"No time, tell me later." She replied, and Harry jumped as the girl dragged him up the stairs. "I have no idea what to do and you're probably the best bet for something like this."

"Something like what?" Harry asked, but Aviana didn't say anything, pulling the Potter boy along into the drawing room. "What?" He faltered, seeing Ron's body on the floor.

"Mrs Weasley?" Harry croaked, Aviana watching with a hand raised up to her mouth.

"R-r-riddikulus!" Mrs. Weasley sobbed, pointing her shaking wand at Ron's body. With a crack, Ron's body turned into Bill's, spread-eagled on his back, his eyes wide open and empty. Mrs. Weasley sobbed harder than ever. "R-riddikulus!" she sobbed again.Crack. Mr Weasley's body replaced Bill's, his glasses askew, a trickle of blood running down his face.

"Mrs Weasley?" Harry was shocked to find that Aviana's voice was just as shaky as his.

"No!" Mrs Weasley moaned. "No... riddikulus! Riddikulus!RIDDIKULUS!" Crack. Dead twins. Crack. Dead Percy. Crack. Dead Harry. Aviana couldn't even move, frozen in a similar situation to Molly, unable to turn away from the sight.

"Mrs Weasley, just get out of here!" shouted Harry, staring down at his own dead body on the floor. "Let someone else-"

"What's going on?" Lupin had come running into the room, closely followed by Sirius, with Moody stumping along behind them. Seeing his daughter, despite the somewhat rollercoaster of a relationship they had, he placed his hands on her shoulders and pulled her away from the scene, closer to the entrance of the room.

Lupin looked from Mrs Weasley to the dead Harry on the floor and seemed to understand in an instant. Pulling out his own wand he said, very firmly and clearly, "Riddikulus!"

Harry's body vanished. A silvery orb hung in the air over the spot where it had lain. Lupin waved his wand once more and the orb vanished in a puff of smoke. "Oh - oh - oh!" gulped Mrs  Weasley, and she broke into a storm of crying, her face in her hands.

"Molly," said Lupin bleakly, walking over to her, "Molly, don't..." Next second she was sobbing her heart out on Lupin's shoulder. "Molly, it was just a boggart," he said soothingly, patting her on the head. "Just a stupid boggart..."

Aviana seemed to be coming to her sense, and was rather shocked to find herself stood beside her father. But after a moments hesitation, she found herself hugging him.

It was something she would've got if she was at the Rosier mansion when she got the badge - a congratulatory hug from her parents. Sirius was taken aback by this, freezing as her arms wrapped around his torso. But soon enough Aviana's hug was returned.

"I see them d-d-dead all the time!" Mrs Weasley moaned into his shoulder. "All the t-t-time! I d-d-dream about it.."

Sirius stared past his daughter, down at the patch on the carpet where the boggart, pretending to be Harry's body, had lain. Moody was looking at Harry, who avoided his gaze, and Aviana broke awkwardly away from Sirius.

The man's gaze drifted from the floor to the girl, who was wrapping her arms around the torso. "I'm going up to bed - hey Potter." She said, and Harry turned around, looking away from Mrs Weasley, who was telling Lupin about her worries. "Thanks for letting me drag you blindly in here - sorry you had to see all that I just couldn't.." She cut herself off with a shiver. "Night Sirius."

She slipped away, and Harry suddenly started forward. "Aviana - you forgot.." But the door slammed in his face, and Harry hastily stuffed the Prefect badge back into his pocket.

Sirius watching him carefully, and wondering why the dynamic seemed to have changed from loathing to somewhat respect.
