Your sirens sang to me

On the blue-black midnight streets

Your shadow danced in mine

And whispered

Follow

In the the alleys I heard your heartbeat

Thrumming to the city pulse

The passing cars your very breath

The street-lamps your

Illumination

City rain and city mist

Stream tear-like down the windows

Skyscrapers, sorrows

Falling down

So softly

I wondered if I loved you

Or if I loved the things we were

Could there be something true

Racing, violent, glistening...

We found peace

In the traffic.

Found ourselves in the crowds,

And in each other.

Racing

Violent

Glistening
