Coral looked up, sand sifting through her fingertips. While squatting down, she turned to look at the calm ocean; thin rays of sunlight bouncing off the water creating mirages. It was the crack of dawn, sun just barely peeking out from beyond the water. Tired, but determined, she studied the scroll one last time. She stood up on her feet and got into position.

As her feet pushed the wet sand in between her toes, she swayed to the rhythm of her moving hands. Practicing what her friend the old and feeble (and dead) water spirit said. "Water bending has a spirit in it like a person. Like humans, it has a tipping point. If you test the tipping point, you break the balance."

She hoped she would get it right this time; no she knew she was going to get it this time. If not then back to square one. If she nailed this scroll then she would be considered strong enough to go on a quest; One she knew no one else would take up. The one she wanted to complete more than anything else. One which her Father urged her to leave behind. The quest to find her mother.
