I'm in a forest, crouched on the floor. Tall trees surround me, and I can see nothing other than a couple of bushes. I glance behind me, and see around 15 to 20 men running, trying to find me. I look up, searching for some kind of cover behind me. If anything pops out behind me I will kill it. Well, I'll try to. My father never taught me how to fight, he taught that to my brother. But I will use my instincts.

A stick snaps behind me, and I swivel around, prepared to fight. I look at the face in front of me, but can not see anything because the persons face is in the shadows. But he speaks, my name, and I know who it is instantly.
"Katerina Petrova, come with me. I can find a place for you to hide." Elijah. I gasp, and his arms reach out, to embrace me. I stand, and embrace him, smelling the sweet smell of wood and berries.
"Elijah, what are you doing out here?" I question, because I'm on the run from his monstrous half brother, Niklaus.
"I came to protect you, Katerina, there's this cottage, owned by old friends of mine, and I promise, they don't bite." Oh, his sweet voice, never failing to charm me and make my insides flutter. But the last part of his words questioned me. I knew that Elijah and his siblings were Original vampires, but were these 'old friends' vampires? Or were they friends he had known for a while, say maybe 20 years?
He saw the worry in my voice, and answered my unspoken question. "Well, 2 of them are vampires, but they are very nice. There names are Rose and Trevor. And they live with their house maid, Rosalie, who is about 45 years old, and of course, she is human.
I felt slightly relieved, but not by much.
Still, I'd be safe.
I hope.
