The sun was just coming up as I laced my running shoes.

Running was one of my favorite things to do; it cleared my mind and pretty much set the tone for my entire day.

"Tatiana, be careful; there are some vicious animals here,"

I put my earphones in, turning on music and starting off down the street. A weird fog was slowly creeping up as I turned a corner, making me slow down. I took out an earphone, narrowing my eyes before looking at the sky. It was perfectly clear.

"I don't believe we've met,"

I turned around, seeing a guy with jet black hair and bright and shockingly blue eyes.

"I'm Damon,"

"Tatiana," I said cautiously.

"Tatiana? Hmm, you look like a Natalie,"

"Well, that's not me," I sighed, looking at the guy. He looked a little familiar.

"Do you go to school with me or something?" I asked when Damon just stood there, looking at me.

"No, but my brother Stefan does,"

"Alright, well, I'm gonna.. go,"

"No you're not," he smirked, looking into my eyes.

"Why the hell can't I move?"

I started to panic; was this guy some kind of lunatic?

"Come with me,"

"I don't know you," I retorted.

"Yes you do, I'm Damon, you're Tatiana -not-Natalie, and you are hungry,"

"No I'm not?"

He rolled his eyes and grabbed my wrist, dragging me towards the grill with him.

"Are you serious?" I growled. "You're kidnapping me?"

"When you put it that way,"

"Damon, what are you doing?" I heard Stefan say. I sighed in relief.

"Talking to my new friend Tatiana,"

"Take this," Stefan said to me, dropping a bracelet in my hand. I raised an eyebrow.

"What is happening?"

"Just put the bracelet on and forget what you just heard,"

I did what he said mindlessly, attaching the clip of the bracelet as I wrapped it around my wrist.

"Damon,"

"Brother," Damon smiled at Stefan. I got the sarcastic vibe, making me feel more uncomfortable than I already was.

"Tatiana, can you uh,"

I knew what Stefan was asking and I nodded, walking away from the two of them. I felt like I might be obligated to stay, but Damon creeped me out in all honesty and the near kidnapping was just enough.

Natalie - 1922

"So, sister?"

I turned around to see Katerina leaning against an elevator lift that led up to my apartment in New York City.

"Katerina," I said, exhaling.

"Have you seen the Salvatore's?"

"They wouldn't care to see me, anyway," I responded, too tired to have conflict with her now.

"What do you go by now, Nataliya? Still Natalie?"

"Yes,"

I pulled for the lift to take me up, waiting for it to come down to my level.
