Chapter III

[Vic]

I don't know what the hell was going on with Jaime.

I mean, I know I'd hurt him, but did he really have to take it this far? As far as screaming at my girlfriend?

I have to talk to him.

Now.

[Jaime]

I wasn't about to deal with Vic's bullshit.

I'm just gonna take a nice long nap until we get to our next venue.

Yeah, that sounds good.

Just as I was about to put my head on my pillow, someone burst through the door yelling my name.

'Jaime Alberto Preciado, we need to talk right now.'

It was Tony.

Great, now someone else is gonna make me feel like shit.

'In my bunk.' I called.

He immediately walked over to me and layed next to me.

'Talk to me.' he said.

'What?'

'Talk to me. Just let everything out. Everything you're feeling, just tell it to me. Don't worry, Mike, Vic, and Raquel are still there at the diner. I told them to stay there because I needed to talk to you alone.'

'Raquel' was Tony's nickname for that bitch who stole Vic from me.

'Alright.' I said, turning around. 'Are you sure about this Tone?'

'Of course.'

'Well, you know that day when Vic broke up with me?'

'Mhm.'

'Yeah well, I was thinking about cutting again. I don't know why I just did. I felt really sad, angry, betrayed, alone, and most of all, disappointed.'

'Wait. Why are you disappointed?'

'I'm disappointed at myself because I couldn't keep the love alive in our relationship. Disappointed that he felt so alone that he had to go and seek comfort in someone else.' I began crying. 'It's just... It's just.. I don't know anymore dude. No one's ever gonna love me.'

Tony wrapped his arms around me and hugged me closer to him. I just cried into his chest.

I cried for a long time before I fell asleep.

Next thing I know, I'm waking up in Tony's arms. I really am thankful for this guy right here, and for Mike too.

They have put up with our relationship problems and yet they're still here.

I think I began thinking too much because I didn't even notice Vic standing beside my bunk with his arms crossed in front of him.

I looked at him as he cleared his throat.

'Tony. Tony. Wake up dude.' I said, untangling myself free from Tony's arms.

'Oh sorry dude.' he said sitting up. 'I'll leave you two alone.'

'Wh-Why?' I asked.

'Because you two really need to talk. That's why.' Tony said before making his way down to the front of the bus. 'I'll keep Mike and Raquel busy.'

'Don't worry, Rachel left.' Vic said.

'Good, now I only have to keep Mike busy.' he said before walking out.

Vic sat next to me as soon as Tony walked out.

This was gonna be awkward.

'So Jaime, I bet you wanna know-' Vic started saying, before I cut him off.

'Why?' I asked.

'Why what?' he asked, obviously confused.

'Did I not make you happy enough? Did I not keep enough company for you? Did I not love you enough? Why Vic? Why?'

'What are you even talking about?'

'You know damn well what I'm talking about Victor, so don't pretend to be stupid and answer me.'

'I-Well I already told you why.' he said looking down at his hands.

'No. All you said was that you didn't love me like that anymore and that you had feelings for someone else.' I said. 'Last time I checked, I takes more than two weeks to get over someone that's supposed to be the love of your life.'

'I want kids.'

'What?'

'I said I want kids.'

'I heard you.'

'Look I'm sorry Jaime. I know it's a stupid reason but I really want them. I'm almost 30, the only serious relationship I've had is with Cara and she cheated on me.'

'So we weren't serious?'

'No. That's not what I meant. What I wanted to say is that the only serious relationship that I've had with someone that I actually had a chance to have kids with was with Cara.

'Whatever.' I said getting up and walking to the front. 'Oh yeah, and Vic?'

'What?'

'One word. Adoption' I said before walking outside.

I just couldn't deal with him anymore.
