Chapter 9- I become Ultron's bait

Start from the beginning

Pietro looked like he was about to smack me, but Wanda started to explain. "Stark nearly killed us,"

"What?" I asked.

"A shell hit our town," Pietro said. "Blasted a hole in the ground. There go our parents. I grabbed Wanda and rolled under the bed. The second shell hit. It was inches from our faces, but it never went off. The only thing we could see was the name printed on it."

"Stark," Wanda finished.

"For two days, we waited. We waited for Tony Stark to kill us," Pietro explained.

My breath caught in my throat. "So you want to hang my life in the balance, just as he hung yours?"

"We aren't sure yet," Pietro grumbled, casting a glance at Wanda.

"We want to hang Stark's life in the balance, not her's," Wanda told him.

"You told me what he feared, Wanda," Pietro protested. "His friends dead and him still alive... isn't that what he feared? If we even pretend to want to kill her, then it will have more of an effect on him,"

"My parents are dead too," I whispered.

The twins stopped and stared at me.

"Car accident. Speeder. Head-on collision. I should've died, but I didn't. I was in critical condition. Nobody was there with me in the hospital except for my best friend and his family. They all thought I was done for,"

Ultron suddenly stood and glanced out the windshield.

"We're here,"

They left me in the quinjet, saying that they'd come back. They were gone for an hour, and I was locked in place with nobody to help me. I tried to stretch out my legs and walk, but I could barely shift around in my seat without crying out in pain.

About an hour later, Pietro came back in. He threw a cloth gag around my mouth and handcuffed my hands. Then, he scooped me up again and ran with blinding speed to the inside of wherever Ultron was.

It appeared to be a large cargo ship, and the Avengers were on the bridge. It felt amazing to hear them.

"WHERE'S BRYCE?!" Natasha demanded.

"Funny you should ask," Pietro said, carrying me into view and dropping me at his feet. I cried out upon hitting the ground, but no sound came out because of the gag.

"Bryce!" nearly every Avenger shouted at the same time. Natasha and Tony attempted to leap out and get me, but I Ultron aimed his repulsor at my head and started charging it up. They both backed up slowly.

"I wouldn't," Ultron threatened.

"Let her go," Steve growled.

"Yeah," Ava snarled. "We don't want to hurt anyone else,"

"No more fun and games, Ultron," Stark snapped. His tone was dangerously rough. "Hand her over,"

"Come and get her," Ultron jeered, and started an attack. Suddenly, Tony Stark was slammed against the wall, locked in battle with Ultron.

I was becoming lightheaded from the pain of being moved. I attempted to stretch out my legs again, but it was excruciating. Nevertheless, I still attempted to straighten them out so that I wouldn't die on the bridge of a cargo ship.

Natasha sprinted at me but was shoved away by a blur a movement that I assumed to be Pietro. She scowled as he continued to knock her down, playing keep-away.

I groaned and flattened my legs against the ground, trying to bend my knees and stand. Everyone was locked in battle, so the only person who could save me was myself.

I seized the railing of the bridge and tried hulling myself to my feet, my arms, shoulders, knees, and legs screaming in pain the entire time. Remembering that it was the only way I could escape, I fought against the pain and managed to stand, leaning against the railing for support. Over the edge of the railing was quite a drop, so I prayed that I wouldn't fall as I dragged myself across, my feet barely working as my body was half on top of the rail, half dangling off, useless. I pulled myself along, trying to find a weapon, any weapon-

Suddenly, the bridge split in the middle, and I was sent tumbling down, down, down... this was the end, I was sure of it-

Until I was saved up by strong, metal arms, which grabbed my wrists and wrapped around them, tightly, hugging my body to its chest. I craned my neck to try and see my savior, but I couldn't see the mask. Glancing up, I noticed that Ultron and Tony were still fighting, so who-

The metal arms melted into me, attaching themselves to my arms and folding around my body... like a suit.

Like an Iron Man suit.

The helmet came down over my head and suddenly, I could see all different sorts of things- analysis', weak points, a female AI talking through the speakers...

I grinned. I'd always wondered what it was like to have an Iron Man suit.

"You alright, kid?"

I heard Tony's voice come over the comms. My throat was extremely dry, so it was hard to form words in my mouth.

I finally settled on, "Thanks, Dad,"
