The Life

After a night of fair sweet dreams
I woke up to see the sunlight beams

Running down the stairs of my big mansion
I went out the door to feed my dalmatian

I chose a long dress from my huge wardrobe
I hang a gold earring on my dangly earlobe

Going out the door to my latest car
I set off to work looking like a star

Then,
A man came towards my car window
Begging in his knees placed down low
Miserly and full of pride
I couldn't give away a penny or a dime
So I drove past the man to run from my fear:
Handing something I called dear

Got back home from a long day's work
Tired from dealing with a stubborn clerk

But then,
My eyes couldn't shut to rest a bit
On a smooth big mattress and cotton quilt
I thought to myself soaked in guilt
I could have been there in place of the man
Had I not been welcome in my guardian's caravan
My dreams were replaced with mere nightmares
Dark wet forests and angry bears

Finally,
I promised myself to have a kind heart
To have sympathy for God's piece of art
Went back to the place I had seen the man
To bring him relief from the heat of the sun
Gravely ashamed of what I'd done

Enchanted by the smile I put on that face
A moment too divine to not embrace
Gave myself no time to spare
And vowed to be a lifetime volunteer.
