Someone screamed her name. Steve Rogers and another figure ran out onto the roof. It to me a second to realize that the other figure was Loki himself.
This must have been what Nat was talking about. They must have brought Loki to the tower. Taking that he's not still here, they must have sent him back.
Loki tried to grab for Ava, but she slipped and fell, down, down, down...
She fell from the roof of Stark tower.
She should've been dead.
She wasn't, because I was going to meet her.
Why?
I hated myself for it but couldn't stop myself- I broke into Avengers tower's security cams.
I searched around for a video like that one but found something a bit different.
This one had the same girl with strawberry blonde hair, and Loki was there too. They were grinning and blushing, talking to each other on the roof. Their noses and foreheads were touching, and they were both touching each other in some way. The girl's hands were deep in his hair, and his hands were around her waist.
"Just one more time, please? I want to hear it from you," Loki muttered.
"Loki," the girl replied.
"Once more?"
"No-"
"Please?"
"Loki,"
The murderer of thousands leaned over and kissed her deeply, right on the lips. She seemed overjoyed with this and, to my horror, kissed him back, equally as passionately.
I watched awkwardly as they literally started to make out, right there.
"Where were the Avengers during all this?" I mumbled. "They would definitely not allow this."
I quickly searched for another video, finding one that was in the penthouse. Thor and Loki were there, alone.
"I know my brother, Loki, you will betray her as you've betrayed me," Thor said roughly and sternly.
"What you don't understand is my undying desire for her!" Loki argued, seeming angry.
"So you claim to love her?" Thor demanded.
"YES!" Loki exclaimed.
"Like you claimed to love me? Like you claimed to love mother and father?" Thor snapped.
"Do not bring family into this," Loki growled. "And most certainly do not bring mother into this!"
"I don't see a difference! Now, then... you had the same motives! I've learned from living with you my whole life. I've learned how you gain people's trust, just as you are now, only to rip them apart!"
"I couldn't do that to her!"
"Why should I believe you? Why should she believe you? Why should any of us believe you?! We're sending you back to Asgard for a reason, and that reason is to protect Ava!"
I stared at the screen, taking in every word of the argument.
"S-she'll die!" Loki exclaimed.
"No, she'll get over it-"
"Thor, you don't understand!" The rage on Loki's face faded into fear. "She will die. Literally. The second I walk into the dungeons on Asgard, she'll fall over, dead,"
Thor's expression flipped to confusion. "Loki..."
"She swore to me that she would keep me out of the dungeons. She swore that I would never have to go back there. And she swore on her life,"
WHAT?! I thought, perplexed and shocked. WHY WOULD SHE DO THAT?!
Thor peered at his brother, anger surging back into his eyes. "You told her to," he barked. "You made her swear to you, didn't you?!"
Loki looked down at the ground silently, which made me assume that he had.
"So you've already betrayed her," Thor growled.
A glare twisted itself into Loki's facial expression. He looked his brother in the eyes and snarled, "I suppose I have,"
"You don't deserve her," Thor told him. "She deserves someone she can trust. Someone who won't betray her as a 16-year-old high school boyfriend would- harshly and suddenly."
"Ooh," I physically flinched. That must have hurt.
Loki suddenly spun around.
"Brother? What are you doing?" Thor asked suspiciously.
Loki let out a deep breath. "I renounce the endurance of the oath made to me,"
His hands started to glow a dull shade of purple, slowly turning to green. Then, they went out.
"Wh- what did you just do?" Thor demanded.
"I renounced the oath. She will no longer die if I am sent to the dungeons and she no longer has to fight to keep me here. I'll go back when you send me back. Without resistance,"
Thor was silent for a long time. The brothers stood in silence, neither of them having anything to say.
"We should probably go tell Ava," Thor suggested after a full minute.
I gawked at the screen as they entered the elevator. It dinged as it closed.
I'm missing something, I thought, desperately searching around the cameras for loose ends. I'm missing something-
"Bryce? It's supper time,"
I looked up to see Natasha standing in my doorway, smiling.
I quickly closed out of the software, promising myself that I'd continue my research later, and smiled back, joining her at my door and leaving with her to go get dinner.
