Chapter one: Curiosity

I was doing my homework in the dining room eating peanuts, on a Thursday night. My mother  busted through the door.

“Don’t come back!” She yelled at someone outside.

My mother was a really sweet person she was very trustworthy, and she was one of those people that could tell when you were lying by just one look at you.

Which that is definitely a trait you need when you are a mother or father. She had short, straight red hair, and blue eyes.

“Hey mom.” I said when she walked through the door.

“Those kids toilet papered our house again. Hey what are you doing up so late?”

“Homework.”

“Want a soda?” she asked me.

“No thanks” I replied.

“What’s wrong hunny?” she asked.

“When is dad going to be home?”

My dad went to Iraq 4 months ago he’s been writing like crazy and I get to video chat with him every other Monday but I still miss him alot. I wanted to spend more time with him before he left for war but it was all just so sudden.

“I don’t know yet sweetie I miss him too."

She held out her arms for me to hug her. She always made me feel better. She hung on to me for a minute or two. I was running out of breath. I started breathing heavily and wheezing.

“Mom.” She let go and looked at me.

I was holding my throat.

“Are you ok?!?” My mom asked frightened.

She ran upstairs got my inhaler, and then ran back down stairs to where I was. She immediately squirted it in my mouth. It wasn’t working. So she ran to the phone and dialed 911.

“Help there’s something wrong with my daughter she can’t breathe.”

“Ok were on our way.”

They were there in about 2 minutes. I fell to the ground unconscious. The last thing I remember was my mom saying she’s over here. Then she called the babysitter to stay at the house and make sure Patrick didn’t wake up.

When I woke up I was in a gurney in the ambulance truck.

“You’re awake. They don’t know what happened they think you may have had an allergic reaction to something.”

I rubbed my head.

“I saw you eating something when I came through the door.” I very faintly said.

“Peanuts.”

“No it can’t be peanuts because you ate them when you were little and nothing bad ever happened before.”

“Actually you can be allergic to something even if you weren’t when you were little.”  One of the doctors said.

“Really?”  My mom asked.

“It’s probably that but we should still make sure.” One doctor said.

We were at the hospital in a few minutes. When we got there, they opened the doors in the back of the truck. Two of the doctors wheeled me out of the truck, and then pushed me into the emergency room. They ran past the front desk. The doctors told the people at the front desk that I had an allergic reaction to something.

“She ate some peanuts then 5 minutes later she said she couldn’t breathe.” My mom said.

“Alright come this way." One of the doctors said.
