Started off Enemies

Chapter Two: Assignment

"Pika" Pikachu suddenly says at the touch of water. "Oh come on..." I stretch my arm out and feel rain drops falling. I hurry off to the entrance and Serena is not there. "Ugh...I'm so-" "There you are" She comes from under a tree. "If you didn't come out from where you were; I totally would have left" I say as the rain gets heavier. "Come on then..." I start running towards the forest entrance hoping I get back in time before the rain gets even heavier. "Where are we going?" She asks running behind me. But I don't answer I'm cold and shivering because the rain so I don't have the time right now I just want to go home. 

Soon we come out of the crowd of trees and near a small house. "You live here..." I hear her say. "Yeah why?" I open the door and lead her inside. "W-wow it looks very cosy..." This little house belonged to an old lady and I didn't exactly have a place to stay after...after... the events in the past so when she found me she let me in and well took care of me. I was really happy with her she treated me like I was her grandson but her health started to go bad and she died. 

"Where's the bathroom?" Serena questions making me jump a little. "Just go down the corridor it should be the last door" She puts her stuff on the floor and walks away while I head into the kitchen. Why is it that the person we care for the most leaves us so quickly? Life can be cruel in that way... Before everything went downhill for me. There was this one girl I loved and she was was so important to me. She was my everything you know... the reason I had to live. The reason for my happiness. The reason why everything looked it was going to be alright in the end. 

I miss her so much...

"So when are we going to start?" Serena says coming inside the kitchen as I take out two bowls from the cupboard. "After we eat we can start..." I reply. Judging from her reaction I bet she thought I couldn't cook. "What... never seen a guy cook before?" Smirking I pour the hot Ramen into the bowls and set it on the table. "Come on it's ready..." I sit down and take a spoon before blowing on it softly. Serena sits opposite me and does the same and a second later "Wow this is good..." She smiles.

"Wow this is good..." 

My eyes widen as I see her. She sits there in front of me as if she never left in the first place. "Y...you're back..." Tears brim in my eyes. "What are you talking about?" She says but her voice is different. "Hey...!" blinking a few times Serena is staring at me suspicious. "Huh? oh nothing let's quickly finish we have a lot to do" Quickly I swallow the Ramen and wash the bowl and get out of the kitchen. The tear that brimmed in my eye slid down as I wipe them. Why did she remind me of her? 

After a few hours of work both of us have done two Pokémon each. Serena did Celebi and Mew and I did Yveltal and Zygarde. "Well we'll finish this tomorrow..." I stretch my arms out. "Sure then I should get going...I don't want to see you for another second now" Serena gets up and packs her things up. Humph you're welcome miss top student! Why can't she be more nice and everything. "Wait..." I call and she looks back. "I think you owe me an apology..." I get up and cross my arms. "For what?" I know she's just acting now. "For what happened at the restaurant... say sorry for what you said about my parents" My eyes narrow saying that. No one talks about them like that. "Why should I? I mean what I said must be true..." she smiles. "Look at yourself! who lives in a crappy house like this. They definitely weren't rich enough to afford a better house." " Say sorry now!" I shout in pure anger. "You don't even know anything about me so apologies now!" I corner her near the door where she stares at me with fear in her eyes. "St...op please..." Her eyes close but I grit my teeth in anger. 

"Then apologies " I say glaring at her. "F...fine I'm sorry I take back every single word I said about your parents and you..." she says quickly. Moving back so I'm not close to her anymore she slides down. "I thought you were like her but clearly not... get out of here" I mumble. "L-like her..." Serena stares at me as I start to walk back when a loud clap of thunder roars fusing the lights. "Oh come on I just got them fixed" I whine. Suddenly I realize that some of the Pokémon are out there in the meadow. "I'll be back don't go anywhere." I say putting on a rain coat. "It's still raining and you might get lost in the forest." Serena nods slowly and I run out of the house. 

"There you go..." I put down Eevee. "Vee!" She shakes herself making the water on her body fly every where. "H-hey stop that!" my arms automatically shield in front of my face. I got some of the Pokémon in the house and the rest with Charizard in the cave that is close by. "Thanks for letting me stay by the way..." Serena mutters. "Where am I going to sleep?" That's right I only have one bed. Guess I have no choice then...

"You can sleep on the couch..." I answer while covering Eevee in a towel. "You're not sleeping in my room..." Surprisingly she doesn't complain. Instead she goes over to the couch and sits down. A moment later I give her a warm white colored blanket and head go my room.

...

Night time...

A time where you can relax and enter the world of dreams. Well nightmares for some... I have been awake for an hour now. Could it be because she's in the house. Meh... the rain is still pouring and for some reason I feel as if someone is still out there and I know exactly where too. So I toss the blanket aside and wear a raincoat. Coming into the living room I see Serena sleeping peacefully. How is she not awake by the sound of thunder. As another clap of thunder is heard I see her there instead of Serena. I see L... "Vul!" A Pokémon! Quickly... and quietly... I run out the door and my Arceus it's like I'm under a waterfall. The wind isn't helping either. I don't think the whether as ever gotten this bad. Though I know I have to get to my destination. Running I make way to that one special place and see Vulpix shivering by a grave. "Vulpix what are you doing here?!" I yell and she jumps. "Pix..." She replies sadly. She doesn't want to leave her but I can't blame her for coming here. Slowly the rain dies down it's still there but not like how it was a minute a go. Staggering forward I pick her up and carry her back to the house with me. Her white fur brushing against my arm. I open the door and walk back to my room. I put Vulpix down and head back to the living room where Serena is. I may not like her but I'm not that mean either. Carefully so she doesn't wake up I carry her bridal style and wow she's pretty light. 

In the room Vulpix stares out the window. "Hey don't worry you can go back to in the morning..." I whisper while covering Serena with my blanket. "You can sleep here with Serena okay" Vulpix jumps off the window and climbs in with Serena and me  I go to the living room to finally sleep.

...

"Come back!" I try every time. "please don't leave me..." But every time I try... I fail to save her. It should have been me. She didn't deserve to die like that. No... seeing her beautiful smile one last time before darkness takes a hold of her pure innocent soul. Then she gone again... and I'm left in the dark again. 

She was the hope for me you know...

The light in my darkness
