Chapter 17: It's Time

She smiles down at her lap. She is not use to such praise from anyone other than her sister. She can feel her cheeks warm up from it. A groan causes both to turn their attention to Jessica. She begins moving in her sleep and her hand coming up to hold her stomach protectively. The action making Sophia smile down at her. 

"She's going to be an incredible mother."

"Yes she will." Brad says with a gentle smile. "I wish she tell me about him."

"The father?" Sophia asks making him nod his head. 

"All she told me was that it was a one night stand."

Sophia sighs at that. "She's ashamed of it. She did tell the man but he said he wanted nothing to do with it."

Brad tenses and takes a deep inhale through his nose breathing out slowly. He holds Jessica closer relaxing himself. "Men are idiots."

"You're one." Sophia points out. 

"Fine... some men." She giggles making the sleeping beauty stir again pushing her face more into Brad's side. After a minute she settles but Brad's face morphs. "Oh shit"

"What?"

"Jessica... Jessica wake up." He shakes her shoulder slightly making Sophia's brows furrow. 

"Brad what are you-"

"My leg either just got peed on or Jess' water broke." He says rotating himself out from below her. The movement causing her to finally wake. 

"Brad" Jessica whines wanting to go back to sleep. A sudden sharp pain causes her to clutch her stomach and hold her breath. "Fuck"

"I'll grab the bag!" Sophia says rushing out of the room to the bathroom where Jess already packed the bag. She started gathering the other necessities while Brad helped pick up Jessica. 

"Come on Beauty. It's time to go."

"Brad it hurts." She says trying to breathe as he carries her down the stairs. His lips coming to her hairline to kiss it. 

"I know beauty... I know. Sophia let's go!"

A flash of red rushes pass him to open the door. A bag thrown on her shoulder, a pillow in her arm and what appears to be a snack bag. "Soph, did you get-"

"I get it all Jess. Don't worry."

Brad carries her out the door as Sophia locks up rushing to the car to open the door for Brad. He gently sits her down in the back before rushing to the driver side door. Sophia climbs in the back next to her sister. Jessica instantly grabs her hand squeezing it as another pain rushes through her. The car speeds away from the house as Jessica continues to breathe through the pains. 

"Sophia I need you to listen to me... If something happens-"

"Jess-"

"Listen to me damn it! If something happens. You take of her. Promise me."

"I promise Jessica." Sophia says whole heartedly. "Nothing will happen."

"Brad you remember what you promised me as well." 

Sophia glances in the rearview mirror to Brad who glances back for a second meeting her gaze. "Of course Beauty."

"Jessica what are you-"

"AAAGGGHHHH" She practically breaks Sophia's hand but the little sister takes it like a trooper knowing it is nothing to what her sister is going through. 

"Almost there ladies" Brad says rushing through traffic weaving in and out. He lays in on the horn a few times which earned him a few birds but he didn't care. He was a man on a mission and everyone else be damn.
